So... I bought the ladies' version of Eleven's purple frock coat. Ended up being more expensive than I originally thought (stupid duty), but it's still a lovely coat. I've been in need for a good dress coat and I figured, hey, why not get one that's geeky, too. So I can be warm, stylish, and a fangirl all at the same time. With the weather finally warming up, I might be able to wear it to work and see how it feels.

I looked at other replica coats, but the one from AbbyShot looked the best. Plus, AbbyShot is a Canadian company! It's nice to know that the BBC entrusts these replica coats to a company of Newfies. :-)

Some general thoughts and a review of the coat )

Now I just have to assemble the rest of the costume for the comic book expo in April. :-) Shouldn't be too hard. No sewing involved this time.
Title: Ghosts (1/1)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 695
Characters: Eleven
Timeline: The end of "The Time of the Doctor" I suppose; no spoilers. Spoilers for the end of "The Day of the Doctor".
Summary: As he starts to regenerate, the Doctor reflects on his life.
Disclaimer: It all belongs to the BBC. Dialogue snippets belong to their respective writers.
A/N: Written as a good-bye to Eleven and I was also inspired by this moment from "An Adventure in Time and Space". I can't claim to know how Eleven's regeneration will go, so I guess this is all in his head as the actual regeneration happens. Also written for [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50's 50th Anniversary Fanwork-a-thon-a-thon Bonus Round.

The Doctor was dying. There was no doubt about it. His body was failing. Having died eleven times before this, he was intimately familiar with the sensation of one's being slowly slipping away. )
Title: Memory Lane (1/1)
Rating: PG
Characters: One, Eleven
Timeline: During "An Unearthly Child" for One; post-"The Angels Take Manhattan" for Eleven
Summary: On a fateful night in 1963, the Doctor gets a visit from his own future.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who has belonged to the BBC for 50 glorious years.
A/N: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] livii for the beta. Written for [livejournal.com profile] dw_50ficathon's 50th Anniversary Ficathon (the year I claimed was 1963) and for [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50's 50th anniversary fanwork-a-thon-a-thon: Round Eleven.

"What are you doing?" the Doctor shouted at the skinny youth that had greeted him at the door. The young man had scampered off to the second level, as though he could hide. "Landing this close to my own TARDIS. Do you want to cause a paradox, hmm?" )
This is cool and I don't think I've seen it make the rounds yet (but I may be behind on my news). Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] newnumber6 for the link:

Potential costume options for Eleven before they settled on the bow tie and tweed.

Seemed like they wanted Eleven to wear a vest. Every other option has one. I'm really glad they settled on his iconic bow tie and tweed. Everything else is just... weird. None of it seems Doctor-ish to me, except maybe for the first one. Also, the costumes look like stuff Matt Smith would wear in real life. :-D

Now I'm anxious to see how they dress Twelve...

Chapter One. Chapter Two. Chapter Three. Chapter Four. Chapter Five. Chapter Six. Chapter Seven. Chapter Eight. Chapter Nine.

"Do you miss it?" he asked instead. This line of questioning wasn't any less awkward, but he wanted to know. Were his friends better off without him, living quieter lives? )

Behind him, he heard the sonic screwdriver whir softly though the sound was quickly followed by an annoyed grumble from Amy. "I always wondered why I didn't see you during the Time War, but maybe now I know why." )

"Were they attacked?" wondered Amy. The Doctor didn't miss the hopeful tone in her voice. If Rory and the others had fought back, then it was possible they were safe. )

The Doctor grabbed her hand again. She could barely make out his face in the gloom, but she was sure he was smiling at her. It was his "Trust me, I know what I'm doing" smile, the same smile he had given her when she was seven years old and there had been a crack in her bedroom wall. Whether that moment had happened for real or was just a memory, Amy had trusted him then. She would trust him now, as always. )

The Doctor felt he finally owed Amy an explanation. They were both to blame for being away from Glen Beagan when the attack came, but he could have easily avoided any and all problems if he had simply told the truth from the beginning. But wanting to and being able to were two entirely different things. )

But why here? Why attack a remote Scottish hamlet? A hamlet now home to a former travelling companion of his no less. Questions were fun, but the Doctor liked answers more. )

Chapter One.

The Doctor ignored the boy and he strode over to the older man who had followed Cameron. He had a stirring speech proclaiming their innocence ready to go but then it promptly flew out of his head when the Doctor saw the laird. )

A/N: It's not super clear if "Death of the Doctor" happened before or after "A Christmas Carol", but I'm going on the assumption it happened before "A Christmas Carol" and that Amy and Rory's honeymoon on the ship was the Doctor's second recommendation to them. A special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] newnumber6, who came up with the basic plot of this story ages ago while we were chatting one night. And once again, a big thank you to my beta [livejournal.com profile] punch_kicker15. You rock!

Amy gently pushed Rory aside and with great trepidation she reached out to grab the object. The last time she had seen one of these, or something like it, she had ended up unconscious. )

A/N: A completely random drabble. Believe it or not, I was partially inspired by the controversy surrounding the maple leaf on the new Canadian $20 bill.

The Doctor spread out his arms, gesturing to the forest of red leaves. "Well?" )
So at the same time I was making up Valentine themed banners for [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50's February fanwork-a-thon I started a side project, which, admittedly, eclipsed the Valentines at one point so I finished the Valentines with a day to go. :-P

But all of that wasted time was worth it. I honestly don't know what inspired this and I really don't know if I'll do anything with it, but I thought I'd share.

Eleven Doctors behind the cut )

I honestly don't know what to do with them now that I'm done. I'm tempted to print it, cut out each Doctor individually and then hang them up in my cubicle, paper doll chain style.
Just something I made for [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50's January fanwork-a-thon-a-thon:

One to Eleven

January is Eleven's month, so I decided to be clever and claim January 11. Y'know, 1/11. So that's the main inspiration for the banner. From One to Eleven. He wears a bow tie now, but he's still the same mad man with a box.

A/N: A sort of companion piece to this manip I made. Merry Christmas!

The Doctor fingered the tag attached to the white ribbon tied around the box. In Amy's neat writing was written, "To the Doctor. Love Amy." )
I'm sorry, but it had to be done...

Because it's cold in space and the Doctor needs to keep his big, valuable brain warm. :-D
I didn't have much time to make a Halloween costume this year, due to the fact that I was out of town for two weeks, so I went with something quick and simple:

"I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool." )

It's nice when people actually recognize your costume. Makes all the effort worthwhile.
