Well, I started my new project today. In typical fashion, I had nothing to do. My computer didn't arrive until 10:30 in the morning and I'm not hooked up to any of the proper networks. My access card didn't work either so I couldn't leave the floor without getting locked out. Thankfully, that got cleared up before the day was done.
And I'm back in a cubicle. Ugh. I was so spoiled on my last project. I was in an office most of the time. Yeah, it was shared most of the time, too, but I had proper walls, a door, and a window. I miss being able to look out a window. Now that I can walk to work, a window is very important. The weather's been nuts lately and I would like to know if it's pouring buckets before I step outside. At least it's a decent building so it still looks relatively new. And it's right beside a Starbucks so I can drink all the vanilla bean frappuccinos I want. But I won't.
I still have no idea what I'm doing yet. Too many people are on vacation so I didn't really get to meet any of my new co-workers. But I did get a slight pay raise because I moved business units (apparently). It's not much, but considering they've been deferring raises since I started working for the company, which was two years ago, a little is better than nothing. It's probably enough that I could buy a fancy new Xbox 360 if I wanted.
Hopefully tomorrow is better. Less sitting around and more training. Having a little to do is fun. Having nothing to do is not.
