Le sigh, Orphan Black season two is done. I wish they made more than 10 episodes a season. Give them more tax breaks, Canadian government!
Anyway... I'm not completely sure what happened at the end of the season, but there was one scene in the season finale that was just marvelous:
Clone Club dance party! Actually, this is a making of video for the dance sequence and it's crazy how many passes they had to do. I can see why they don't often have all of the clones hanging out. It must take forever to paste it all together.
I am not ashamed to admit that I sometimes forget that all of the clones are played by the same actress, especially when it's Cosima or Alison. Tatiana Maslany is just that good. It's not just their looks and clothes that set them apart. Each clone acts so different. They're each their own person. Like, when it seemed like Cosima might die, I was all "No, she can't die. The person playing her is awesome." And then I remembered, oh yeah, the person playing her plays four other people and she will still have plenty to do even if one clone dies. Why people aren't showering Tatiana Maslany with awards is beyond me.
But now that they've introduced boy clones, I wonder if they can capture the same magic. Can the actor playing Mark and the other Project Castor clones show the same range as Tatiana Maslany? Or will they avoid it somehow by saying that the military has brainwashed them into all acting the same? Before they revealed that it was Mark who was the clone, I was worried that the boy clone would be Felix. I wonder, though, if that might still happen. In Greek myth, Castor did have a twin...
Overall, the season was good but I wished the clones spent more time together. They were off in their own worlds for the most part: Alison in rehab, Cosima with Dyad, Sarah getting dirt on Dyad. I thought it was kind of lame that Helena didn't die, but now that she's not trying to kill the other clones, she's actually quite an amusing character. Alison may be good with guns, but you don't want to be locked in a room with Helena. Also, I'm glad they let Art in to Clone Club. It was so frustrating last season watching him trying to piece everything together and being generally dumb. However, Paul has remained utterly useless. I'm not even sure what he did this season. He was with Sarah, then he was with Dyad, then he was Rachel's monitor / sex toy, and suddenly he's this double agent for the military? Honestly, he's just there to be eye candy.
Bring on season three!
