locker_monster- As there is nothing else to watch right now, I'm watching the new Sailor Moon cartoon. Thankfully, it's being streamed (legally!) on this site here. The anime style is a bit different and things have been updated for the times, but enough of it is the same so you get that nostalgia factor. I watched the English dubs as a kid, so I'm always going to have a preference for that, but watching the original Japanese with English subs isn't bad either. I did learn, however, that they will be releasing the entire original cartoon on DVD and Blu-ray with the original Japanese and a new English dub that will be completely uncut. That's right; no edits, no North American network execs meddling. I may have to foolishly waste some money on this.
I will have to get used to the new English voice cast, though. In my mind, Luna will always have a British accent. :-)
- Went and saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It has the same problem as the new Godzilla. The creatures are really good, but it's the humans who are kind of boring. I could have gone the entire movie without any humans; the apes are just that good and convincing. I was left with the urge to watch the old movies. I know I've seen the first three but I don't think I've ever seen the last two. My library has all of the DVDs, so maybe an POTA marathon is in order for the future.
- There was a Guardians of the Galaxy trailer in front of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and I'm so happy I bought tickets for the early screening on July 31. I hope the movie lives up to all of the hype. It's looks so off the wall, compared to the other Marvel movies, but that is going to set it apart, I think.
