- I finally saw Frozen. Yeah, I wasn't blown away or anything. I appreciate that they broke some of the Disney princess tropes, but I wasn't left with an overwhelming urge to listen to the countless cover versions of "Let It Go". I was surprised to see that Alan Tudyk voice one of the characters. I totally did not recognize his voice. Same thing happened in Wreck-It Ralph. Well, I guess that's why they keep hiring him. I read he'll be in Big Hero 6, too.
- Speaking of Disney movies, I'm loving Guardians of the Galaxy's soundtrack. Not the orchestral soundtrack, but the soundtrack that's basically Peter's mix tape. They're familiar songs, and some I've heard before, but when you stick them all together, I just smile. Someone online lamented that the soundtrack wasn't released on a cassette tape. I bet some fans will burn (transfer?) the songs to a tape so they have something playing in their vintage Walkman for their Star-Lord cosplay. :-) Incidentally, I found the Sony Walkman I used as a kid. Now, this one is from the 1990s and it doesn't look half as nice as Peter's and I wasn't taking it with me to alien planets. Hell, the last set of batteries I left in it had corroded. So Peter's super power must be the power to keep things in pristine condition.
- And speaking of GotG cosplay, I was looking at Spirit Halloween's website (as you do when there's nothing to do at work) and I saw that they have GotG Halloween costumes for kids and adults. They look cheap but I love that they have a Rocket Raccoon costume for kids. Sadly, there is no Groot costume, though there is a mask. The mask for the Star-Lord costume looks pretty decent, but I bet it's made out of flimsy plastic. I don't know if I have a Halloween party to attend this year, but if I knew for sure that I had a party to go to, I think it would be cool to do a low rent Star-Lord costume. Oh, Spirit Halloween also had officially licensed Game of Thrones costumes and a femme!Ezio costume from Assassin's Creed II. That last one made me laugh. Oh, Ubisoft, you're trying really hard to get the girl gamers back aren't you.
- Ace cosplay is progressing. I cut out the Ace logo for the back out of various pieces of felt. I had planned to go to the fabric store, to get some good quality felt, but after looking at screencaps of Ace's jacket, I came to the conclusion that the Ace logo was done cheaply by the production team, so I just bought some felt from Michael's. I think it works. Most people will see the logo from a distance so it doesn't have to be perfect. I'll be wearing a backpack, too, so the logo will be covered most of the time. I'll probably finish the jacket before August 23 as I need a completed costume for the theatre screenings of "Deep Breath".
- Oh, and the screenings of "Deep Breath" are only on August 25th and August 30th in Canada. :-P I read there will be limited screenings on August 23rd in the US, so, fingers crossed, they do the same thing for Canada. I mean, I'll still watch the premiere on August 23, but it would be more fun if I had a chance to see it in a big theatre with other fans.
