In the week and a half since the move downtown I have finished six books. Four actual books and two on my phone. Admittedly, I had started a few before the move, but I was still near the beginning with them, so that's still progress in my mind. :-)

I was totally not expecting to blow through books like this during the commute, but I have an hour every day to read, sometimes longer if I miss my bus home. Before this, I was only reading for half an hour during lunch during the work week, plus whatever I could manage on the weekend. So I've finished all of the books I got from my book club and now I'm on to the ebooks I downloaded from the library. I'm actually worried that I might run out of reading material. My book club doesn't meet again until December 13.

This is a great feeling, though. I feel so accomplished.

Books are the best for commuting. I always get a lot of reading done if I take a book on the bus to/from school. What's next on your reading list?

When I was going to university, the train ride was an hour long and that's when I got all of my reading for my classes done, but I never really had the chance to read books for fun on that commute so this is a nice change.

I'm currently working my way through Among Others by Jo Walton and one of the Twelfth Doctor novels The Crawling Terror. The Doctor Who book is nothing to write home about, but I'm quite enjoying Among Others. The main character is a voracious reader of sci fi and she keeps referencing all of these books I've never heard of, so it makes me want to find them so I can read them.

Among Others! I read that last year, and I really enjoyed it too. :)

I read Among Others last year too, thought it was interesting, mostly for the reasons you state, the visceral feel of excitement in reading. Although it wound up being a bit unsatisfying, for me, at least, in the end.
