I was so annoyed when I got spoiled for this, but the awesomeness of the eight minutes has made up for it. :-D So nice to see some new Doctor Who.

Multiple Doctor stories are always so good. I just love it when past Doctors meet the current incarnation and they start to criticize who they've turned into ("So you're my replacements: a dandy and a clown."). Ten doesn't do that here, but his fanboyishness is just as amusing. Totally felt like Ten was channeling Steven Moffat and David Tennant. "You were my Doctor." Because who wouldn't be squeeing with delight if Peter Davison showed up. Nickel and Dime. :-D

Clever how they sneaked this in at the end of "Last of the Time Lords". The explanation for why Five looks older doesn't quite make sense, mainly because David speeds right through it, but hey, it's a special and it's for charity so who cares why Five is there as long as he's rushing about the TARDIS with Ten. "You changed the desktop setting! What is this? Coral?" Hee! And now we know how the interior of the TARDIS is able to change. Actually, it was a bit weird to see Five on the current TARDIS set; he belongs with the white walls and the scanner on the wall. And old school Who music! Techno 80s. Also cool that they got Graeme Harper to direct; just pulling out all the stops from Classic Who.

Some fine dialogue at the end, with Ten admitting how much he loved Five. Which really, is the Doctor declaring his love for himself. ;-) Cute, saying how Doctors One through Four were just starting out and "young" and by Five he had gained some wisdom and stopped trying to be all important and grumpy. Nice contrast to the fact that Five was the youngest of them all. It's never occurred to me just how much Five and Ten have in common: both young, both wearing the same kind of trainers, both wearing glasses. Great comment about the glasses. I think Five wore them like, twice, and then they disappeared so the specs are totally not needed but there to make the Doctor look smart. I guess this happens every fifth incarnation or so. ;-)

They so need to have more multiple Doctor stories. How about Eight, Nine, and Ten. That's doable, right?

I bet you by the time they made it to the Doctor's last regeneration, they'll have the technology to be able to do "The 13 Doctors", using CGI and old footage for resurrecting all of them for a big, new adventure.

Then again, considering how they've sped through the last two doctors, maybe not. ;)

Still, part of me really hopes they do manage to do it 5 or 10 years down the line.

They could do all 13 Doctors in animated form. Bit easier than CGI, plus the animation can be stylized so it doesn't have to look exactly like the actor. Of course, the only problem with multiple Doctor stories is they all need something to do. Just look at "The Five Doctors".

They should start slow; 3 doctors first, then work their way up to 13. :-)

Yeah, but they could do it right... or wait, there are usually 13 eps in a season, right? They could devote a whole season to it, have him team up with one doctor an ep, and then all of them in the final! ;)

Failing that, I'd still love to see "The Four Doctors" with Ten, Nine, Eight, and a young One (so you can recast without problems). I'd settle for Ten, Nine and Eight, but then you can't use the title The Three Doctors because that one's been done. :)

Ooh! I didn't realize there were so many call-backs to Old Who. That kind of makes it even MORE endearing to me. :D

Yeah, this was entertaining. VERY entertaining.

According to the official Doctor Who website there's a bunch of references to old Who. So basically this special is like a love letter to the fans. :-D Yay for huge geeky fans like Steven Moffat and David Tennant!

More multiple Doctor stories please. :-)

That would be quite awesome. A whole season full of multiple Doctor stories. When it's just two of them it's definitely more manageable. Next year is the 45th anniversary of Doctor Who; maybe they have something special in store. You never know.

How about "The Three Doctors Redux"? ;-)

Wait...are you talking about what is going to be IN the special or have you seen it, or 8 minutes of it? I am confused. (and behind on LJ, which never helps)

Argh...please explain :)

I'm referring to the Doctor Who Children in Need Special for 2007 (http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=4dxDxXOnjGk), not the Christmas special for this year. But that would be cool if I could see a few minutes of that. ;-)

It's just a little something they did for the Children in Need charity. Being the awesome people that they are, Doctor Who does something every year for CiN.

I knew you were talking about the CiN special. I just thought it aired at the end of the m onth. ( I just blathered on about it in a post).

I was actually looking forward to this more then the Christmas special and I wasn't disappointed at all. Hopefully I wont be come Voyage of the Damned hehe.

But now, it was thanks to you that I started looking around and got to enjoy those lovely 8 minutes ;)

Ah. Yeah, the air date for the special wasn't really tossed out there. I ended up at Wikipedia to find out when it was. I'm sure if we were in the U.K. it would have been broadcast everywhere. But it was quite good, wasn't it? There's the whole two levels going on: on one level it's enjoyable because it's something new and funny and on another level it's a big love letter to the old school Who fans.

There's also a behind the scenes video to go along with it, but I can't get it to play, probably because I'm not in the U.K., and I can't find it on-line. I really want to see how filming was; did David and Steven Moffat fanboy when Peter Davison showed up? :-D

I had to watch on youtube. I am just hoping I can the special and the confidential to download when I get home.

Are you referring to stuff on the BBC site then? I assume that is the confidential and it should be all over the web. I will be looking when I get home. (whenever that is(

I can only imagine though what it was like behind the scenes with all the fanboys. Makes you wonder if they will do anything with the concept of other incarnations of the doctor.

Where do you download from? I found the special and the Confidential over at mininova.org. I'm not that fond of youtube; the quality is never quite as good as downloading.

For whatever reason this year the CiN special can only be viewed from people if they live in the U.K. I guess the site can tell whether your IP is in the country or not. The first time Who did a CiN special you could watch it on the Internet no matter where you lived. Odd.

I would melt into a gooey puddle of fangirl happiness if they had other Doctors come back. :-D Or more old companions; it easier to introduce them into a story line. All you have to do is explain what they've been up to since they left the Doctor. No weird technobabble explaining why two Doctors are suddenly in the same place.

I assume you have email notification so I went ahead and removed the comment because of the info I shared. Nothing major, but just better that way. Still, let me know!

You know, I have never heard of that comm but it sounds like a great source. If you're willing to vouch, that would totally be cool. I'll be good, I promise. :-D

All vouched for, but they have a hold right now on new members due to some issues. They will be adding folks as soon as stuff is cleared up :)

I am sorry I didn't know earlier because I think with your love of old school you will go a bit crazy with finding good stuff :)

Hey, no apologizes needed. I think if you had introduced this earlier I probably wouldn't have gotten any work done. ;-) But I'm totally thankfully you vouched for me. I can go crazy after the semester has finished.

So totally off track. I may have brought this up already.(seriously I dont know where I have commented about this). I am of the type that would rather ask/mention and have someone say nah, I would rather not then not. So...in case you missed this post of mine I feel obligated to point it out again. :)

Yeah, I saw that post. I guess I never got around to commenting. A cool idea, but I'll pass for now. And don't worry about bringing this up a bunch of times. I sometimes forget to reply to things so thanks for the reminder.
