Not really prowess as I just Googled how to capture video from YouTube and noted what other people said. ;-)
But this is what I learned: save the url of the video you want and head over to a site called http://keepvid.com. Paste the url into the handy space at the top of the page and hit the download button. The video will save as a mp4. To convert that into a file type that will work on a screencap program (I use imagegrab and it only allows me to grab from .avi and such), you have to download a program called Super, which I found here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER. Then you just convert the mp4 to an .avi. Not exactly one easy step, but it works nicely. The only problem I found was that the video was small; it doesn't get any bigger than what YouTube provides.
