Second day of the comic expo, which means today was parade day. I will freely admit that this year's parade wasn't as cool as last year. Or maybe that's just how it felt to me. The Doctor Who cosplay group was a little smaller, we were at the very back of the parade line, and a stupid police car got between us and Garrett Wang who was riding in the car ahead. Oh well, every year can't be a winner. Next year, one of the Whovians is promising to bring a homemade, life sized TARDIS to the parade, so we'll see how that goes.

The weather was wonderful, though. Sunny and warm, with no rain at all. Saw some good costumes, too. There was an adorable little girl dressed up as Doctor Octopus and her dad was dressed as Spider-Man. Actually, there was a lot of cute kids in costumes. I see parents start the induction at a very young age. :-) There was also a pretty awesome Baymax in his battle armour and all of the day care kids in the area lost their mind when they saw him.

But man, I'm super pooped and tomorrow is going to be a long day. Need to grab autographs from Ming-Na, Stephen Amell, Hayley Atwell, and Arthur Darvill. Time to grab some Zs.
I'm a little disappointed that Canada didn't have "Deep Breath" screenings on August 23. Oh sure, going on the Monday was still fun, but you could totally tell that most people in the theatre had already seen it. It lacked the excited buzz that "The Day of the Doctor" had. But the theatre was full so if you show it, the fans will come.

The prequel was okay but it felt more like a primer for a non-fan who might have gotten dragged to the screening. I would have preferred a fun scene or something more relevant to the episode. The episode of Doctor Who Extra that they showed afterwards made me miss Doctor Who Confidential. Ten minutes is not enough to capture what goes on behind the scenes. And since I'm in Canada, I won't get to see Doctor Who Extra anyway so no point in getting too attached to it. I can only hope they put all of the episodes on the eventual DVD set.

But the screening did allow me to try out my new Ace cosplay. :-) I had all of the components so the screenings just forced me to put everything on the jacket ahead of my schedule. And damn, that jacket is hot. It was a warm day already and I was boiling. So it's a good cosplay for fall and spring, but not for summer.
