- Wow, I created this blog ten years ago last week. Crazy. Ten years ago I was still in university and just starting to get into fandom. I wouldn't say that I've come a long way since then, but I have certainly gained some real world XP. Whether this blog is here for the long term? *shrug* I guess I'll only leave if I have to.

- Other things with anniversaries this year: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate SG-1. Both premiered in 1997. Yes, both are 20 years old this year. Bet you feel old now. ;-) I'd love to see a reunion of either cast. I don't think actors from either show are super busy right now. Come on, comic book conventions! Get your butts moving on getting the casts as guests!

- I don't have much else to talk about. Still working that temp job. I've been extended to the end of February, so that's nice, but I really need to look for a more permanent job.

[Poll #1146905]
I've been contemplating this for awhile. 10 bucks a year isn't too bad; that's less than a dollar a month. Plus with the Canadian dollar being on par or above lately, I would be saving money. But what would I do with 100 icons? I want more icons but not that many.

According to my profile page I created my journal a year ago today. At 11:32 at night. Huh. I don't remember that part. That must be LiveJournal local time.

Well, I can definitely say the past year has been fun. I know originally I wanted a LJ just as a place to post fics and to rant a little about fandom stuff I'm sure no one else cared about and it looks like I've fulfilled that. ;-) But without LJ I doubt I would have become crazy obsessed with Doctor Who and met a bunch of people because of it. So a big yay to LJ. And thank you for being easy to use, unlike some other social networking application whose name rhymes with Macenook.

I can't even begin to fathom how many hours I've wasted on LJ since joining, but I'm sure I'm bound to waste many more. :-D

I am seriously not loving Facebook. I originally joined to keep track of a friend while she was overseas but once she came back I stopped checking. Now I've been sucked back because a guy in my Chinese class has created a study group for the class on Facebook. It's a nice idea really; an informal place to discuss various things. Fine. I like informal.

But I hate Facebook. Figuring out how to use all the applications is so frustrating. Well, at least for me it is because I'm lazy and don't like looking things up when it should be super obvious. Like here on LJ. Want to post something? There's a convenient "Post an entry" button at the top of the page and another one in the drop down menu. Want to reply back to something a friend wrote? Just hit reply, and bam, you get a nice little box to write in. There's none of this on Facebook. Right now, I'm staring at my "Wall" and I've got four messages. Does it say "reply" under any of them? Nope.

Wow, now I sound like an old curmudgeon. But my dislike for Facebook still stands. Give me LJ any day.

Ow. Trying to figure out CSS hurts my brain.

I did, however, understand it enough to add a shiny header. The only thing I can't fix are the links at the top of the header (Recent Entries, Archive, Friends, User Info) though. You can barely see them after I messed around with the font size and colour. Any tips from those smarter than me? :-D

Of course, knowing me, all this hard work might be for nothing because tomorrow I'll decide I hate the header and toss it.

ETA: [profile] browncoat_2x2 is a CSS god. :-D Links are fixed. Thanks so much!
