Battlestar Galactica season three finale
<---- I think this will be my T.V. ranting icon from now on. :-D
I really don't know what to say. I like BSG, I think it's a great show, but their cliffhangers really don't do it for me. In fact, I think I'm off cliffhangers. They're just not overly exciting anymore. I know the characters will get out of danger; it's just a matter of how. And waiting for that "how" sometimes isn't worth it. But I digress... Spoilers behind the cut.

It felt like they smooshed together two separate episodes: the end result of the trial of Gaius Balter and the return of the Cylons. Balter's trail felt rather anti-climatic. Lee has a rant and presto! Balter's not guilty! Of course, I'm not a fan of lawyer shows so the whole trial storyline wasn't that great for me. The only thing it was good for was getting Laura to tell everyone that her cancer has returned and I don't totally agree with that storyline either. "Laura needs something to do. Let's bring back her cancer and she can suffer through the illness again." Though this time around, Laura seems more sensitive in regards to the whole vision thing and I'm interested to see how that plays out.
So Tigh, Tyrol, Anders, and Tory are Cylons. Huh. Or are they? ;-) I mean, just because they all heard that song doesn't really mean anything. Plus Tryol had a kid and Tigh met Adama over 20 years ago. Did they have human Cylon models running around that early? I guess we'll have to see how that plays out, too. And there's still one Cylon identity left. I bet the writers are saving that one for the very end of the series.
And speaking of which, hey, we got a glimpse of Earth and not-so-dead Kara. I was joking that she ascended, like they do in Stargate, and maybe I wasn't totally wrong. What I want to see is the Fleet reaching Earth in the very last episode of the series, but no meeting the humans on Earth or anything like that. Don't want a repeat of Galactica 1980. :-D
And the best line in the entire episode was Adama's: "Get your fat lazy ass out of that rack, Roslin!" I know he was only saying it because Laura asked him to, but it was still funny. I find the Roslin/Adama relationship much more engaging than the messed-up Lee/Kara relationship because Laura and Adama really can't get together unless one of them steps down from their leader position. That's why I liked their flashbacks in "Unfinished Business" so much. They got a chance to relax and hang out with each other like normal people.
I'm really hooked on the song from the episode. I hope it's on the season three soundtrack when it comes out.

Still, I'm hoping the fact that all four of the revealed cylons (5 if you count Kara, who isn't actually _revealed_ as one, but is a top contender seeing as how she potentially 'resurrected') were on New Caprica during the Cylon occupation is a sign that it was something done to them rather than something they were all along.

I had guessed about what the music signified, so that wasn't a surprise, but I too am not a fan of court episodes. Bleah. Bleah. Bleah. I dunno... I found the initial renewed tension between Adama and Lee last episode to be a little forced, considering how far they've come in the last three years, it seemed to be more of a plot convenience than anything else.
But I loved the Adama/Roslin moment at the beginning too, that was great. I admit, I'm all over Kara/Lee (and I've hated D ever since she dumped Billy in that oh-so-obvious-Billy's-going-to-die episode) so I was glad to see Starbuck back, like we didn't know she'd be back.
Unfortunately for me, having grown up listening to Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower, I much prefer that, and I was kinda like WTF? where is that song, from our culture, fitting into their culture?? *shrug*

Get out of bed - ringtone as an alarm

Note - I had a little too much gain on the recording, a problem I later learned to fix for future ringtone making.
