<---- I think this will be my T.V. ranting icon from now on. :-D

I really don't know what to say. I like BSG, I think it's a great show, but their cliffhangers really don't do it for me. In fact, I think I'm off cliffhangers. They're just not overly exciting anymore. I know the characters will get out of danger; it's just a matter of how. And waiting for that "how" sometimes isn't worth it. But I digress... Spoilers behind the cut.

It felt like they smooshed together two separate episodes: the end result of the trial of Gaius Balter and the return of the Cylons. Balter's trail felt rather anti-climatic. Lee has a rant and presto! Balter's not guilty! Of course, I'm not a fan of lawyer shows so the whole trial storyline wasn't that great for me. The only thing it was good for was getting Laura to tell everyone that her cancer has returned and I don't totally agree with that storyline either. "Laura needs something to do. Let's bring back her cancer and she can suffer through the illness again." Though this time around, Laura seems more sensitive in regards to the whole vision thing and I'm interested to see how that plays out.

So Tigh, Tyrol, Anders, and Tory are Cylons. Huh. Or are they? ;-) I mean, just because they all heard that song doesn't really mean anything. Plus Tryol had a kid and Tigh met Adama over 20 years ago. Did they have human Cylon models running around that early? I guess we'll have to see how that plays out, too. And there's still one Cylon identity left. I bet the writers are saving that one for the very end of the series.

And speaking of which, hey, we got a glimpse of Earth and not-so-dead Kara. I was joking that she ascended, like they do in Stargate, and maybe I wasn't totally wrong. What I want to see is the Fleet reaching Earth in the very last episode of the series, but no meeting the humans on Earth or anything like that. Don't want a repeat of Galactica 1980. :-D

And the best line in the entire episode was Adama's: "Get your fat lazy ass out of that rack, Roslin!" I know he was only saying it because Laura asked him to, but it was still funny. I find the Roslin/Adama relationship much more engaging than the messed-up Lee/Kara relationship because Laura and Adama really can't get together unless one of them steps down from their leader position. That's why I liked their flashbacks in "Unfinished Business" so much. They got a chance to relax and hang out with each other like normal people.

I'm really hooked on the song from the episode. I hope it's on the season three soundtrack when it comes out.

I liked the finale as a whole, but I'm hoping the four Cylons are fake, because if they're going to push it as real, then unless there's a _very_ good explanation, it's a jump-the-shark moment for me. Sadly, as good as the show is, it does have a bit of a weakness on 'very good explanations'.

Still, I'm hoping the fact that all four of the revealed cylons (5 if you count Kara, who isn't actually _revealed_ as one, but is a top contender seeing as how she potentially 'resurrected') were on New Caprica during the Cylon occupation is a sign that it was something done to them rather than something they were all along.

Ohhh! I like your theory of something done to them!! Clever idea... hmmm

I hope your theory is right. It just doesn't make sense that the four of them were Cylons to begin with. Tigh has a past that's tied up with Adama's and Tyrol had a son with Callie. Unless the kid is another hybrid like Hera, I really doubt Tyrol is a Cylon.

Yeah. I mean, I could buy Anders or the presidential aide being Cylons. Maybe _one_ of the others, if it was just them. But all four of them just raises way too many questions and WTF moments.

Although on the other hand, I'll be very disappointed if they don't actually deal with Earth on the series. I'm sick and tired of quest shows that end when the quest location is reached, when there are so many more interesting stories that can be told about what happens when you get there. I mean, I can sort of buy the 'the journey is the most important part' when the destination is home for the characters (as is most of then the case in these types of stories), but here we'd be dealing with not only the fleet finding Earth and learning about it, but also (probably) Earth having its first (modern) contact with another spacegoing culture. Sure, Galactica 1980 sucked, but so did the original Battlestar Galactica so it's not fair to prejudge it based on that. :)

When they reached Earth in Farscape some time before the end of the series, and then moved on from there, that alone made the whole series worth it for me.

I'm of two minds about the finale...
I had guessed about what the music signified, so that wasn't a surprise, but I too am not a fan of court episodes. Bleah. Bleah. Bleah. I dunno... I found the initial renewed tension between Adama and Lee last episode to be a little forced, considering how far they've come in the last three years, it seemed to be more of a plot convenience than anything else.

But I loved the Adama/Roslin moment at the beginning too, that was great. I admit, I'm all over Kara/Lee (and I've hated D ever since she dumped Billy in that oh-so-obvious-Billy's-going-to-die episode) so I was glad to see Starbuck back, like we didn't know she'd be back.

Unfortunately for me, having grown up listening to Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower, I much prefer that, and I was kinda like WTF? where is that song, from our culture, fitting into their culture?? *shrug*

Wait, the song in the episode is a real song? Wow. I thought it was something they composed just for the show. Huh.

But if it is from Earth, then maybe it's a sign that the Fleet is really close. Radio waves head out into space and the further out you go, the older the songs get, right?

And you know they weren't going to leave Kara a forever dead. She's the reason most people tune in. :o)

Yeah, real song, new version of it... It was written by Bob Dylan, but (imo) Jimi Hendrix's is the definitive version, though, there are a TON of bands that have covered it over the year according to wikipedia! <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Along_The_Watchtower#Cover_versions>Cover Versions</a> I knew Kara wasnt' dead dead cuz I'd heard her contract was only allowing her to take guest roles on other shows *G*

Get out of bed - ringtone as an alarm

I liked that line so much I made a ringtone for my razr cell phone of that. It says "Get out of bed. (pause) Get your fat lazy ass out of that rack!" If you want it, here's the URL
http://home.comcast.net/~bobaronsohn/BattleStar_getup2.mp3
Note - I had a little too much gain on the recording, a problem I later learned to fix for future ringtone making.
