Writer's Block: Parlez-vous francais?

[Error: unknown template qotd]
I think this needs to read "what other foreign languages did you know?" Because I've learned two other languages and I've promptly forgotten both of them.

I took French in elementary, junior high, and high school and the second I didn't need the class anymore, I stopped taking it. I was horrendous at it anyway. Conjugating nouns and verbs made my head hurt.

Then I learned Chinese in university and promptly forgot that, too. Chinese I enjoyed a bit more. It came in handy when writing Firefly fanfic. :-)

Oh, I also took half a semester of Latin. Does that count? It's a dead language but it's still a language. I enjoyed that more than French, but you still had to conjugate stuff.

If I had to re-learn one of these, it'd definitely be Chinese. And not just so I could make up amusing swears. :-D

I had Spanish in 4ht & 5th grade, French in 6th & 7th, Latin in 8th, French again in 9th & 10 thenn college. I can read it aloud but I have very little comprehension of what I'm saying. I always wanted to take Russian because it sounded so cool.

The, well, I wouldn't call it fun exactly, but the interesting thing about Chinese for me was how it didn't look like any language I had studied before. No words, just symbols. So it kind of makes my forgetting it even more dumb, because I went through all this effort to learn this alien language and then that effort went to waste. Oh well.
