Whoo, they changed the rules for my company's 1500 km challenge! Now you can win prizes if you only gain steps by just walking.

I think people complained commented that the competition was a little lopsided, since you have people who do all sorts of sports and then you have people who aren't that active but try to be. I mean, there's no way I could compete with people training for marathons and stuff like that, so I'm very happy the company made things a little easier. Just walking I can manage. I'm not a sporty person.

Now, all I can think about is doing this so I can get my step count up:

I wish this was an icon. Anyone know of one?

I still doubt I will win, but at least now I can dream that I have a chance. ;-)

(Incidentally, I've accumulated 239,100 steps in 21 days. That's 191.2 km or 118.8 miles.)

Thanks! Did you just crop the original gif? I did find a higher quality gif of the scene, after I posted this of course, and it might be neater to use that one.

More or less, yeah, it's just a simple crop. I could try again with higher quality gif if you'd like, but even from the original pic I used, I had to lower the quality in order to fit within a LJ icon's size restrictions, so a higher quality source might just need to be reduced all the more (unless, perhaps, if it's higher quality in that the colors are much crisper with less jitter, which can mean less information (where instead of just saying 'this whole section is blue color #551214' it has to keep information like "okay, this spot is blue color #551214, the pixel next to it is blue color #551218, and the pixel next to that is actually a purple #2145 for some reason').

Here's the higher quality gif:

But yeah, that's the problem with animated icons. You do lose a lot of the detail once you shrink it. I'll try making the gif into an icon, too. I think it's an appropriate image for my posts about the challenge. :-)

My second try, the picture does seem to have a little better quality this time aroumd.

Yeah, this one is less... jerky? Pixelated? Well, you get the picture. Thanks for making this! :-D
