Someone on Whedonesque pointed out that ten years ago today "Once More With Feeling" premiered.

Does anyone else feel kind of old now?

"Once More With Feeling" is definitely one of my top five Buffy episodes. It just proved just how diverse the show could be. Horror, comedy, drama, angst, and a musical all wrapped up in one episode. I know other shows have done musical episodes, but I think Buffy was one of the few, perhaps the only, that had original music and lyrics. And it wasn't just an episode to grab some ratings. It also pushed the story forward for the characters and the season.

And who else could write in a joke into the middle of a song except Joss? :-D

I remember loving it from moment one. I watched it over and over and tried to figure out the lyrics and got super annoyed when I saw the edited version so it would fit into an hour time slot. A friend of my sister's even made me a bootleg CD of the songs and I'm sure I wasn't alone in that department. ;-) I mean, how could you not want a CD with all the songs in one place? Who cared if the tracks still had the TV audio in the background? That was part of the charm. Though, that doesn't mean I don't own the official soundtrack. I also have the script book for the episode. What can I say? I'm a completionist. :-)

Sigh. I feel like watching "Once More With Feeling" now.

It's probably been at least 2 years since I saw it, and a year since I tried to sing (well, not actually sing, but have the lyrics run through my head), but I still was able to do "Going Through The Motions" on my way to work.

The other ones I can do large swatches of but get tripped up on a few lines here and there.

I'm always listening to music when I'm on the computer so the songs are always on. But yeah, it's been awhile since I sat down and actually watched the episode.

And when you said "tried to sing", I thought you were doing Buffy karaoke or something. :-) That would be cool, though. They have karaoke for everything else.
