I shouldn't be happy about this, but the other admin finally quit.

Whoo hoo!

She gave her notice today, by Office Communicator (an instant message system) of all things. Now, I don't care who you are, but that's just unprofessional. The least you could do is tell your boss you're quitting in person. When I spoke to my department manager today, he didn't seem at all impressed, but I also got the feeling that he's a little relieved. While quitting isn't any better than being fired, at least it's a mutual split this way. Won't do wonders for the girl's references, though. She gave no reason for why she was quitting, so if she tries to get another job and the employer phones up the company, my manager won't have anything useful to say.

I also have to wonder how the girl got hired in the first place. She doesn't talk. She IMs me, me, who's sitting in the cubicle right next to her. She made me look chatty and I'm not a big talker. So how do you get through an interview when you can't be bothered to talk to your co-workers on a daily basis? It makes me thinks that the interview process was very rushed. I told my department manager that I can manage on my own for a bit, so the company can take some time to find a replacement. Of course, that means I get to work on four different projects. Fun.

Actually, as long as they find a replacement by June, I'm totally fine. Because I ain't cancelling my vacation for nobody.
