Title: The Boy Who Waited (27/49)

Timeline: set between "The Pandorica Opens" and "The Big Bang"
Summary: London, 1996. Barbara Wright prepares the Pandorica for exhibit at the National Museum. As the work unfolds, she recounts the lengthy history of the stone box and its loyal protector, the Lone Centurion.

Half a decade on the job

So I just realized that I've been working with my company for five years now. My anniversary date was on July 14. Apparently I get a watch at five years. Not that I need a watch, but at least the company is thoughtful enough to give you something for your years of service.

It doesn't feel like I've been here that long. Time flies when you're, well, I'm not having fun, but I'm busy and time certainly flies when you barely have time to eat lunch. I wouldn't have thought it five years ago, but the project I'm on right now, let's just call it Project B, is just as disorganized as my first project I worked (Project A for argument's sake). The leadership on Project B is just as inept as Project A, but at least the managers are nice. I get the feeling I'll be with Project B for a while, since there isn't much going on in the rest of the company, and I really hope they spread out the workload a little better amongst the admins. I know we're all busy, but there are days where it feels like I'm doing the bulk of the monkey work.

Still, five years! I started out as a temp. Here's to five more, I guess.
