I think Four is my favourite Doctor after Nine and Ten (yes, they're tied for first place). He can be all crazy and random one second and then completely serious the next. Actually, this seems like an attribute all Doctors have, but Four did it in spades. Well, Ten can be just as crazy but he counters it with angst. ;-)
Part two of "Destiny of the Daleks" involves a lot of walking down corridors and "corridor acting". I love that it has a name; the sets were so short you had to make sure to get all your lines out before the corridor ended. I think it's in the commentary for "Planet of Evil" that Tom Baker said he came up with just stopping, saying a bunch of the lines, then starting off again as a way of accommodating.

So after a two minute reprise, which probably meant this episode was a little short if the reprise was that long, we get Romana being threatened by the trio of Daleks.

She looks so stoic here. Though later she's reduced to hysterics while she's being questioned. I guess it shows just how evil the Daleks are if someone like Romana can barely hold it together.

"Oh noes! Romana's going to get suckered to death! And whisked to death!" I enjoy that Daleks can make plungers and egg whisks threatening. :-D

And I forgot to talk about the Movellans last post. They're the other other evil robot race trying to take over the universe. Doesn't really work out for them. Now, it makes you wonder. Who the heck decided that their killer robots should have dreads and wear kohl around the eyes? Because nothing strikes fear into the heart of your enemies quite like people dressed in white and looking like they belong in Ancient Egypt. Maybe that's why the Movellans only showed up in one episode of Doctor Who. ;-)

So poor Romana gets carted off to go work in the mines, hauling rocks fro the Daleks. The Daleks have attacked other alien ships and forced the ones who lived to work as their slaves. I appreciate that they managed to work in a few background aliens. Most of the slaves look human but you can spot an Axon or two in the background.

Another great thing about Four: his expressiveness. I believe this is his "oh crap, I'm in trouble" face.

Romana collapses from radiation poisoning or something. I think all you need to know is, "Oh jeez, it looks like she died! Regenerate Romana!" Not that she does. Daleks, being the jerks that they are, tell the slaves to leave Romana on the hard and probably uncomfortable rocks until the end of the shift. How fun.

Here's a better shot of the Movellans. They've got beads on the ends of the dreads and those glow sticks used in raves on their shoulders. Yeah, I don't feel very threatened. One thing I did notice was the actors who played the Movellans moved very stiffly when they walked. It's not revealed until part three that they're robots so that's a nice hint thrown in there if you're paying attention.

Four's "Eureka!face". I just love it when he's on one train of thought then turning on a dime he goes, "Ah!" and gets completely off track.

Now for some Dalek poetry: "Seek. Locate. Exterminate." Who knew Daleks were such poets. This is one of the more unfortunate lines in the episode. I'm glad the Dalek catch-phrase is just "Exterminate!" The rhyming thing doesn't work for them.

Sorry, but Four is so expressive in this episode. It's amazing how wide Tom Baker's eyes can get.

One of the neat things I liked about this episode was the camera work. It's not usually a thing I pay attention to, but I saw this shot of the Dalek rolling down the corridor in the trailer for the DVD and it just looks so cool. The Daleks look very threatening from a low angle because you get that whole looming over you going on.

The Doctor takes time while escaping to mock the Daleks and their inability to climb stairs. I guess the Daleks' creator never had legs in mind when he designed them. :-)

Oh no, Romana's dead! Oh wait, she's fine. Apparently she was taught how to stop her hearts in school. Good skill to have when you're travelling with the Doctor. Very touching that the Doctor runs over when he sees the grave and starts throwing the rocks aside.

So the whole point of the episode is this guy, Davros, the Daleks' creator. The Daleks want to dig him up for some disclosed reason not revealed until part four. He was quite awesome in "Genesis of the Daleks" where he was played from Michael Wisher. Completely psychotic and totally crazy. Here, he's played by David Gooderson because Michael Wisher was unavailable. The one downside is Gooderson is stuck wearing the mask made for Wisher so it doesn't quite fit his face.

And once again the last two seconds are used to reveal another bad guy. You get a creepy moment when Davros' hand starts to move and the light on his forehead starts to glow...
