I really hate it when a show makes you wait really long for a second part. Most mainstream network shows are fairly good; two month tops. Sci Fi shows seem to have the tendency to disappear for months and months and sometimes the wait isn't always worth it. Six months is far too long a wait. I guess it helps that BSG didn't end on an actiony cliffhanger, just a really depressing one. You're not holding your breath to see if someone lives or dies; you just want answers.
Which we sort of got, but in typical BSG fashion, more questions were also raised. But the answers. It is indeed Earth. Or possibly a planet just named Earth by the 13th tribe. The 13th tribe who, turns out, are Cylons. Early Cylons who fled from Kobal? I always get confused with the whole Kobal-Colonial exdous thing. I presume the myth is humans used to live on Kobal and then they went out and colonized the 12 Colonies, with the 13th tribe going off on their own to do their own thing. So these Early Cylons developed, build a society, it all went to hell, and they died out. But five of them somehow were reborn and made their way back to the 12 Colonies? Yeah, Ron Moore has some explaining to do. But at least it's explained how the final five were supposed to know the location of Earth: they used to live there.
And Ellen is the final Cylon! What? What kind of reveal is that? Or maybe this is a fake-out. Tigh just remembered incorrectly. Or maybe we're all just stupid, assuming that the final Cylon was someone alive and in the fleet. They better explain the final five Cylons. Ron Moore has said they're special, but special how? Interestingly, Earth in the final five's memories looks a lot like modern day Earth. The clothing looked like our present day clothing and the technology didn't look too futuristic, not that we saw much. So Earth 2000 years ago was our Earth, and the 12 Colonies just grew and went on until they reached the point where they built spaceships and robots. Or something. God, it's hard to commit to an idea with this show. The writers always come up with another mind frak.
Speaking of mind fraks... Kara crashed and burned on Earth. So the Kara running around on Galactica isn't Kara? Is she a Being of Light? A ghost? A wacky clone? Sigh.
But poor ol' Dee. I actually said in my last post that the quick shot of Adama from the 20 second trailer, the one where he's crying, I guessed he was crying about Dee. And I was right! I didn't expect her to blow her brains out, but you could see she had a tenuous grip on reality after returning from Earth. It was really unexpected though. My sister was watching with a bunch of friends and when that moment happened, the show cut to a Cheez Whiz commercial. Because nothing goes better with a character death than Cheez Whiz. And poor Adama, too. Laura's all depressed, the whole fleet's depressed, and what's he supposed to do? Go find another planet and settle down it seems. Though, I doubt that. They need to stay around Earth, solve some of these mysteries. In the webisodes, it seems like they had been in orbit around Earth for awhile, so maybe there's no leaving.

I find it hard to believe they'll be able to sustain this plot line for another nine episodes. Every episode can't be about the mystery of the final five and Earth and the Cylons. That's a lot of information to take in. But frivolous side stories wouldn't feel right either. Is Ron Moore's podcast up yet?
