Hmm, middle-episode-itis. Classic Who used to suffer from this, back when episodes were multiple parts. Serials would start off strong, fade in the middle, and then finish off pretty good at the end. So, less to comment on this time around.

A lot of standing around for everyone this episode. Aside from the thieving early in the episode, poor Ianto and Rhys don't get to leave Hub 2. And Rhys somehow ends up acting as Torchwood's tea boy. Oh, and Jack's coat. I suppose he's had many over the years. I really doubt he would have kept the same one for over one hundred years, so I guess that works. His coat isn't like Spike's leather coat, which was destroyed and then replaced just to service a joke. I think it would have been funny if Jack had to run around for the rest of the episode in a T-shirt and sweats. Let's be fair; Jack looks good in anything. Or nothing. ;-)

Even the other characters were stuck in rooms. Frobisher and his gang were stuck on Floor 13 with the wanna be Exorcist alien. Seriously, all I could think was "pea soup" every time the 456 alien, um, puked. I suppose you need something when the alien is wrapped in mist for the entire time we see it. I hope the reveal on it isn't lame, but anytime you decide not to show the monster, what's in your head is always more scary than what actually appears. And this Prime Minister is a jerk. I miss Harriet.

Was it surprising to see that Jack was involved with the first encounter with the 456 back in 1965? No, not really. The guy's been stuck on Earth for over one hundred years; he's bound to be involved in things he later regrets. We'll see how the rest of the team reacts.

And it's confirmed: Colonel Mace is in Vancouver. I didn't hear that wrong. Poor guy; did he piss someone off? ;-) Apparently UNIT has a base there. Who knew. I bet Mace is depressed by the lack of sunshine and consulting for Stargate. And if the curfew is for everyone eighteen and younger, does that mean teenagers are being creepy and pointing at stuff too? One of Frobisher's daughters looks to be in her teens, so I guess so. Ooh, that means Rani and Clyde, maybe even Luke, have been affected by the 456, too. Now that's a fic idea waiting to be written.

A week of Torchwood isn't great for productivity though. It's all I can think about while at work. Not that I've been working super hard lately. :-D
