So. Torchwood: Miracle Day. Yeah. I really don't know what to say. Personally, I think Children of Earth was better. Shorter story but far less crack-y than this.

And no pun intended of course. Well, maybe. So The Blessing was alien after all. Or something. Seriously, what the hell is lurking at the centre of the Earth? I thought a Racnoss ship was silly enough. So some fleshy, alien crack maintains the mortality of Earth? And feeding it Jack's blood made everyone immortal? Really? I don't know what RTD was thinking. Couldn't we have gone with a simple alien invasion story?

At least Jack didn't die, at least not permanently. So he's still immortal. I knew that would happen. Once the flip was switched back, so to speak, Jack would be unkillable again and he would just wake up. No harm, no foul. The interesting twist is now Rex is immortal. I don't think I like this twist. First off, wha? Pumping Jack's blood through Rex made him immortal? Jack's immortality doesn't stem from his blood. It's just how he is; it's a state of being. Or was it because of The Blessing and the whole morphic field thing that Rex can't die now? Maybe a combination of the two? I dunno, it just seems, well, silly. One immortal person is enough. Now we have two guys running around who can't die? Maybe it's Rex who turns into the Face of Boe. ;-)

But this just goes to show how horrible I am at predicting stuff. I think I said what back in my episode one post that Rex would probably die once the miracle was sorted out. Wow, I was completely off base there. But they had to kill the nice PA character? Esther was really starting to come into her own towards the end. Of course, someone had to die. It wouldn't be a season of Torchwood without one of the team members dying.

Obviously, some things are left hanging just in case Torchwood gets picked up for another season. Seems really iffy though, with the lacklustre ratings. But we've still got the Family running around and now Rex can't die. It'd be nice to go back the format they had for seasons one and two. Standalone episodes for the most part with some arc related stuff here and there. Because I really miss the standalone episodes. I mean, I love continuity, but every once and awhile you need a breather. Though, I don't know where they can go from here. With the Hub gone and the Rift supposedly closed, there's no reason why Jack and Gwen have to stay in Cardiff. Taking the show internationally would be fun, but expensive.

Seriously, Jack needs to show up on Doctor Who again. Remind us that the two shows are in the same universe. I'm going to assume Miracle Day happened while Amy and Rory were travelling with the Doctor because if they were back on Earth while this was happening they totally would have called him and told him about this.

Random: I suppose, in the end, Oswald kind of redeemed himself. Was that the only reason he was introduced? So he could blow himself up in the end? And how did Jilly not die? She was pretty close to that explosion. She would have burns at the very least. And Russell, you couldn't help yourself, could you? Three "What?!"s in a row? Gee, that sounds familiar. :-) The Doctor got mentioned again, as did Silurians, huon particles, and the Racnoss. Gwen's fight with Jilly in the lift was funny, though it felt kind of out of place. Up and down, and up and down. But Gwen's line about Jilly's lipstick was cute. At least Gwen and Rhys survived. Can Rhys now be an official member of Torchwood? Though, maybe not. If that happened, he's probably end up dying.

Well, if Torchwood does get another season somehow, good, but I don't think I could sit through another mini-series.
