As the last episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures have started airing, I thought I would do a review for them. Nothing extensive, but just a few thoughts.

"Sky" really reminded me of "Delta and the Bannermen" only without the Welsh holiday camp and the bees. A rapidly growing baby who has the power to take down the enemy and the mother and the enemy are also part of the story, but their roles in "Sky" are a bit different. I thought maybe Miss Myers was lying and the Metalkind had actually made Sky to fight the Fleshkind, but I guess this makes the story easier to follow. It seems incredibly convenient that the energy backlash cured Sky of her explosive abilities, but hey, you don't need the kid blowing up buildings when she's going to school.

And speaking of Sky, it's nice that they waited until the new season to replace Luke. It's kind of a shame now, since we won't get to see more adventures with Sky and Sarah Jane beyond this season, but I still like the idea. Sky's a lot like Luke, in that she was created by aliens for an ulterior purpose, but I assume she's not a genius. She still has a lot to learn about human life, and that's a lot like early Luke, but she's not meant to be perfect so she does do things like run off when she's told to stay. She's like a mini Sarah Jane. ;-) Actually, Sky's pretty cute. It's also a different dynamic, with her being younger. I hope Luke gets to meet his "sister" in the last episode.

And they must have run out of cute babies in Cardiff by now. Everything new Who show has had cute babies this season. Doctor Who did it twice! It was fun seeing Sarah Jane with a baby. That's so not her world. She didn't grow up with siblings and I doubt a lot of Sarah's friends had kids. Sky should meet a certain somebody on Doctor Who; they have a lot in common. I was also thinking that Sarah Jane should start a support group for mums with children who grow up super fast. My gosh, there are so many of those in fantasy and sci fi. :-)

Totally randomly, I was kind of hoping the nuclear power station in the story would be the same one from "The Hand of Fear", just as a nod to continuity, but I guess most of the audience wouldn't get the reference. Still, I thought Sarah Jane could have had a quick comment.

I'm going to be so bummed when the last episode airs in two weeks. I really liked The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I was thinking of Delta and Hand of Fear as well. I feel like I've see the actree playing Sky somewhere else before. Or it could just be that type/age thing

I like that SJA does have references to the old series, more so than Doctor Who sometimes. I also laughed when Sarah said "Take me to your leader" and then she rolled her eyes. I could totally see her doing that if she heard the Doctor say it.
