Somewhat productive day today. Started the morning trying to get tickets for the Star Trek: the Next Generation reunion panel for the local comic book expo in April. It was nuts. You would have thought that a site like Ticketmaster could handle a sudden barrage of requests. I can't tell you how many times I got an error. I had hoped to get floor seating for my family, but no such luck. Sigh. Oh well, at least we got tickets. I suppose being in the same room as all nine cast members is still pretty good.
My sister also suggested that we get a family photo with Patrick Stewart instead of doing the formal ones we usually do in the summer. Yes, she was being serious. But even more bizarre is the fact that my dad, who doesn't do conventions, might be up for it. Geekery totally runs in the family. :-)
Got to try out the multiplayer for Mass Effect 3 and that was fun. It takes some getting used to. Mass Effect has always been a game that I play by myself and then squeed about later with my sister. Now we can both play together at the same time. I think the longer we play the easier it will be. Have to learn to coordinate our attacks and stuff. At least we can't be beaten by a bunch of 12 year old boys. I hope. It's just the demo so far. They could competitive modes that I don't know about.
Capped off the day with a run to the mall to buy the last few pieces for my Old!Amy outfit from "The Girl Who Waited". I know the expo isn't for another two months or so, but if I don't start now, I won't start at all. I need to cut off the sleeves of the leather jacket I bought, but that should be easy. Now comes the hard part: actually making the armour. I'm trying to make it as cheaply as possible, so I foresee a lot of walks out to the nearby dollar stores.
I wanted to see the new penguin exhibit at the Zoo that opened up yesterday, but then I saw a piece on the news and the lines to get in are so long. I guess the cute penguins will have to wait. It's not like they're going anywhere.
