What? Doctor Who will be back in two weeks? Well, at least we got another fancy "Coming Soon" trailer. With the best line from... whoops, heading into spoilers. Best to talk about the episode first.
I'm slightly annoyed Doctor Who is being delayed for the Eurovision Song Contest, but hey, I don't live in the UK so I don't know what the show is about. It could be a big deal for all I know. But in return, we got a second "Coming Soon" trailer.
Man, what am I going to do next week?
Okay, this episode made me like Martha a little bit more. So we know now that she can keep a cool head while in the middle of crisis. Unless being attacked by a giant mutant old man then I think anyone has the right to scream. Her medical studies also come in handy when people get hurt where she goes into "doctor" mode. And now we see that she has a loving family with a mother attempting to keep her kids together and safe. I think that's what Martha has up on Rose. A family; actual siblings and a mother and father. Martha's parents may be divorced but I think that's what makes Martha's mom so desperate. She wants to have a semblance of a family now that they're no longer one. Maybe that's why Martha wants to travel with the Doctor. To have a sense of freedom that her life doesn't allow. And a big plus: Martha got to change her clothes! And probably take a shower and wash her hair. But then she gets right back into the TARDIS. Shouldn't she have taken some clothes with her like Rose did? Or is she planning to raid the TARDIS wardrobe? ;-)
And hee, oblique references to Rose. The first "some people live more in twenty years than in eighty" was nice. Felt like the Doctor is trying to convince himself that he and Rose did more in two years than most people do in a lifetime. Then the Doctor's line about living so long you always end up alone. Aw. I suppose that's why he never complains about having people wander into his TARDIS. It's better than travelling the universe by yourself.
I just love it when the show makes references to old school Who. The Doctor says it shouldn't have taken him that long to "reverse the polarity" and I just had to add "of the neutron flow!"

At first I thought Jack was going to be in the next episode, then it hit me that this was another "Coming Soon" trailer. Okay, fine. Spoilers aplenty but it was all out of context so I guess that's fine. But we got a great line from Jack: "Was someone kissing me?" Plus lots of yelling, a cool shot going through the TARDIS doors up to the Doctor (who's alone), a seemingly amnesic Doctor, and a shot of Mr. Saxon in an oxygen mask. Played by John Simms! Hee, Sam Tyler is evil!
Man, what am I going to do next week?

I know what you mean. What to do next week. I need to get my thoughts together to post about the episode still.

Date: 2007-05-06 01:22 am (UTC)I can't wait to see Jack back with the Doctor. I can't imagine how confused he'll be. "You don't look the same. Where's Rose? What took you so long to find me?"

I think I want to cry. Really, I'm going to shower in a minute and I'll probably cry real tears as I miss Billie like a giant missing thing.
