ReBoot is coming back! News story link courtesy of CBC, since, you know, the show was Canadian. :-D
Man, I loved that show. I used to watch it all the time on YTV back in the day. All of the geek references made me smile. I would have preferred a continuation of the original show, the series ended on a cliffhanger, but maybe it's better to reboot and start fresh. I hope they don't re-tool the characters too much just because computer animation has become much more advanced over the years.
In celebration, have a Reboot musical! Apparently next year is the show's 20th anniversary. I feel old.

Date: 2013-10-05 07:51 pm (UTC)One of the... tweets, I guess, on that remarkably hard-to-read story on CBC suggested they were also interested in resolving the cliffhanger, but I don't see any source for that, so, it might just be fan wishful thinking.
Personally, I'd almost prefer a full reboot (ha) and reimagining based a little more on the computer world today (where there are phone computers, and spyware, persistent MMORPGs, for example... maybe normal binomes get 'drafted' into having to participate in wars on another system? Mike the TV could be a persistent Adware infection!), so it doesn't seem as dated. Or maybe one where, everything in the first series happened, but, to the reboot world, it's effectively thousands of years later, and everything in the past is distant not-really-remembered history, but because of the tendency for code to be reused, we still have new iterations of many of the same characters and situations, who don't realize this, except maybe at some point later where they investigate history ("All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again!")
However, whatever they do, now that Tony Jay is no longer with us, anybody else playing Megabyte just won't feel the same.
Also, I still remembered pretty much the entire musical enough to mouth along with it without having to read any of it. It's as catchy as the Buffy musical and Doctor Horrible stuff. :)

I believe ReBoot is the first show that I really loved that had a musical. So it totally paved the way for Joss. :-)
