Total length (at the time of this posting): 72.5 inches (approximately)
In other words, I'm done!
Well, I'm done the actual knitting bit. I still need to weave in the ends. The scarf isn't made up of a simple garter or stockinette stitch so I'm not really sure how to approach this. The scarf does have ribbing, and I've found videos on how to weave in ends on ribbing, but the ribbing on the scarf is a little bit different than usual ribbing so I don't know the techniques I've found would work either.
Oh, and then I have to block the scarf, which basically involves soaking the scarf and then stretching it so that it dries into the correct shape. My scarf is only four inches wide and the lady who did up the pattern had her width at five inches, so hopefully blocking will help with that.
Annoyingly, my cast on edge of the scarf does not match my bound off edge of the scarf. The edges are noticeably different. I guess my cast on technique is incorrect. Sigh. Oh well, this is my first project so there are bound to be some hiccups along the way. I suppose I could add tassels, to sort of mask the edges; something to look in to.
I'll take some pictures once I figure out how to properly weave in the ends.
Up next: probably learning how to knit in the round. I've been looking at videos demonstrating the magic loop technique, which involves using a circular needle instead of four double pointed needles. It's kind of cool once you wrap your head around how it works.

Date: 2015-03-03 02:01 am (UTC)Knitting in the round, though, that's much more fun. I started a practice project to try out the magic loop technique and it's so neat to see something take shape on the circular needles.
