The Scarf is so close to being done:

Well, I say close, but really, I'm probably another week or more away from being done. And then I have to add the tassels. And wash/block the Scarf. Okay, it's too early to celebrate just yet.

But the Scarf is over five feet now. It's taller than Jenna Coleman. ;-) It'll probably be taller than me pretty soon. It's kind of hard to measure it, though. My tape measure only goes up to five feet so I guess I'll need to use a more heavy duty one.

I am so ready to finish this project and take a break from knitting for a bit, but the funny thing is, I'd totally be willing to make another scarf. They are so easy to make; you just need a lot of time to complete one. Of course, I'm not a fast knitter, so maybe it doesn't take as long. I think the next one I would make would be done in acrylic yarn. Stuff made from acrylic can be thrown into the wash, which is a great, especially if you're wearing the scarf to a con.

I did start to put together my femme!Four cosplay, but man, I am going to be warm in this costume. I'll be wearing a long sleeve shirt, then an argyle sweater, then a corduroy jacket, and then a scarf on top of that. How was Tom Baker not roasting under the studio lights? I'm opting for shorts instead of trousers, so that may help with any overheating, but I just hope that the weather is cool when I wear the costume.

You're so close! That is awesome!

Blocking it actually is a pain, too, since it'll stretch out to about 12 feet (or more!) so you'll need to have a lot of clear floor space and a way to pin the thing down. I did it at my friend's house; she has a young daughter and they have a lot of those plastic foam jigsaw-interlocking squares, so we made one long strip of those and pinned the scarf to it.

Yeah, I have no idea how those actors - all of them - could survive their costumes. Don't forget that Tom Baker also wore a cravat! My Five costume is a dress shirt, cricket jumper, and coat, so I bought a sleeveless cricket jumper, just to have one less layer. I figured that no one sees those sleeves with the coat on.

I just bought some of those foam mats. I'm not going for the full 12 feet, simply because I'm too short and the scarf would drag on the ground, but it's still going to be tough to block. I'm not even sure the sink in my laundry room is big enough to submerge the whole scarf. Ah, the joys of knitting big objects.

I've been contemplating that, too. As long as the overall costume captures the spirit of the original, then it's all good.

I'm 5'1" and I can wear the scarf without it dragging if I loop it twice around my neck (like Four does), making sure the loops are large. But making it shorter does give you more versatility and you don't have to worry about the ends.

I think we soaked the scarf in the bathtub, if I remember correctly. :)

The bathtub! Duh, of course. I don't know why that didn't occur to me.

I do have a question about the tassels. So, how did you attach them? Like, did you insert them right near the edge? Or did you go up a row or two before knotting it through the scarf?

I put them right on the edge. I haven't seen any problems with that yet. I did lose a couple of pieces of yarn from a tassel that I didn't tie correctly, but that's about it.

Thanks! I watched a video on how to make the tassels but it didn't mention where to place them.

Thanks! I think it's going to be a sprint to the end. I really want to finish this scarf so I can do other things.

I'm so excited to see what it looks like when it's done! I'm so impressed with how much you've got finished.

I will totally take some pictures of the Scarf once I'm done. :-)

About 80% in a month and a half isn't bad, but there's a pro knitter out there who knitted the Scarf in a week. A week! Sure, she's a speed knitter, but that's still impressive.
