locker_monsterI forgot to post my thoughts about issue 7, not that anyone really cares. ;-)
This issue was pretty much "meh". It suffers from middle-of-the-arc syndrome: the plot has been set up and the characters established but not much happens because it's still early in the arc. By the next issue I expect major plot developments.
I'm beginning to miss the writers from the show. Not that Brian K Vaughn is a horrible writer or anything, I just want to see what the old Buffy writers will do with the comic format.

Mainly because Gigi reveals to Faith her, and Roden's plan, to kill Buffy and that will probably lead to some difficult decisions for Faith. She and Buffy ain't exactly the best of pals but is that really enough for her to consider killing Buffy? It's obvious she and Gigi have more of a connection and Gigi's lifestyle, not the dressing up bit but the luxury of it, certainly seems tempting. I like that Faith was hesitant to kill Gigi; she's not the cold hearted killer she thinks she is. She's still got feelings, even if she pushes people away.
The whole "Long Live the Queen" thing reminds me of the Buffy novel Queen of the Slayers. Frankly, the book was craptastic but it had a similar idea; warlock type magician guy meets a newly called Slayer and uses her to overthrow the old regime. Naturally, Buffy and Co stop the plot, not that the book will have any impact on the comic (I really hope not; Queen of the Slayers was really bad). I really suck at trying to guess what's going to come next so I won't bother. I'll just go with the basic assumption that Buffy is the "Queen" is who is dead, or will die, and Faith or Gigi is the "Queen" posed to take over.
I'm very disappointed that Giles only appeared in one panel. One! I just fell in love with Jo Chen's cover and assumed that Giles would actually play a part in the issue, but apparently not. If you're going to put a character on the cover it should be a signal to the reader that said character is going to be part of the story. Thankfully the preview panels for #8 show Giles actually doing stuff instead of sitting around in a room.
