Canada created by moira_fae11 based on the Threadless t-shirt: I love Threadless shirts. I almost have enough that I could wear only Threadless shirts for a week. Sadly, I don't own this one since it's quite popular, but the text is damn funny. And after taking numerous Canadian Studies classes, it feels totally true to me. ;-)


Hypnotoad! created by lezopez: All glory to the Hypnotoad! It's too bad icons don't have sounds, because that's half the fun of Hypnotoad, but thank goodness for YouTube.

The sound of his hypnosis just cracks me up. Apparently it's the sound of jet engines played backwards or something. It's stuff like this that makes Futurama an awesome cartoon. It has totally random things and the fans just latch onto it.


Scooby Gang: I made this one when I realized I didn't have any Buffy icons of the gang. It's nothing special, I whipped it up in a few minutes, but it's the last image of the gang from the show so it'll always stick with me.


Jayne hat: Any good Canadian will recognize the text on this icon. Or any good beer drinkers I suppose. For the unfamiliar, it's from a Molson's commercial; basically it's this Canadian guy ranting about the things that make Canada different. It was all the rage for quite some time. As a Canadian, I've always found it hard to believe that hats like these aren't called toques in the rest of the world. You get silly things like wool hat or beanies. Since Jayne's cunning hat is definitely a toque, I just had to put the text with the image. I like to use this icon for ranting about stuff, usually T.V. since Adam looks so enraged. :-)


Ten Years: This is the first multi-frame icon I ever made. It's nothing exciting, but as a first effort it's not too bad. I made it last year for the tenth anniversary of Buffy's series premiere. Buffy was really the first show I latched onto fiercely because I liked it, not because my family watched it. The show also got me into writing and started my long obsession with anything Joss Whedon related. It's eleven years now and I bet I'll be a fan still another eleven years down the road.


Angry Robot Devil created by innermoppet: Another Futurama one. The dialogue just makes me laugh mainly because I'm a writer and it is really annoying when people have their characters just declare their feelings. Since it's Futurama, they have some fun with it and that just makes it more hilarious.

Your icons make me so happy -- especially the Buffy one. I AM PRACTICALLY TEARING UP. Also, I knew the Molson's commercial, therefore I should get Canadian citizenship. XD

Futurama is awesome. I'd never seen the Hypnotoad bit, but THAT IS AMAZING.

Did the Molson's commercial run in the U.S.? I've never wondered about that. But you knowing about it definitely means you should get automatic Canadian citizenship. You should start using words like "toque" and "two-four" if you haven't already. :-D You can impress the citizenship people will your knowledge of Canada.

There's a Hypnotoad "episode" on the first Futurama DVD movie. Nine minutes of him just sitting there with his hypnotic eyes. I think I lasted a minute before I gave up.

No, I don't think it did -- but one of my Canadian friends told me about it, so I watched it on YouTube. :D Hee, and thank you for supporting my quest! What's "two-four"? I already know about toques, but I don't think I quite have the Canadian pronunciation down.

I should get that. I used to spend hours watching Futurama with my English teacher in high school during his free periods. After I got into college, I was pretty much a delinquent. :P

A two-four is slang for a 24 case of beer. I don't think it's used too often, but most people will understand that a two-four is referring to beer. Wikipedia has a nice list of Canadianisms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_English#Vocabulary), so you can study up on them. :-D

I have to admit I like Futurama way more than The Simpsons. Well, earlier seasons of The Simpsons weren't bad, but Futurama is so much more geek friendly.
