Saw The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Good to see Mulder and Scully again but I wasn't overly wowed by the movie. It just felt like nothing happened, story wise anyway. Got some good relationship stuff and I enjoyed that much more. Of course, I can barely remember the last few seasons of The X-Files but I remembered enough that the fan in me could smile at the small little things only fans would get.

I'm just slightly confused on where Mulder and Scully are in their relationship. So Mulder's been hiding out since the end of the show (for reasons I can't recall), but Scully knows where to find him and seems fairly comfortable in Mulder's house. Are they living together? Does she visit from time to time? The scene where they're in bed together; is that Mulder's house or Scully's? I'm inclined to believe it was Mulder's since a) Mulder has a razor and shaving cream (unless Scully has those stocked for whenever Mulder is over) and b) you can see a fish tank in the background. I get that Scully was trying to leave Mulder's world behind but it just seems like Scully saw enough of Mulder over these six years that they have something going on. But anyway. I like that they took a moment to talk about their son. I thought maybe for a moment they might pull a fake out and reveal that the boy Scully was treating was actually William but I guess that would have confused people. And Mulder and Scully kissed!

I had a inner fan squee when Skinner showed up. I kept hoping he would show up since Mitch Pileggi's been hanging around Vancouver due to Stargate Atlantis. They sort of just throw his character in there though, so if you don't know the show very well, he's just this random FBI dude who has the balls to find Mulder. But look at Skinner, busting into rooms all bad ass and cradling Mulder in the snow. That's a recipe for some slash fanfic if I ever saw one. ;-) I'm sort of annoyed you don't find out what the characters have been up to since the end of the show, but I guess you get a general idea.

The plot was just... weird. Yes, Scully's faith is challenged and her relationship with Mulder is tested, but it just felt so slow. And Mulder and Scully hardly do any investigating together and that was the whole point of the show. I'm sure the fans will go see it, but I doubt it's going to do that well, mainly because The Dark Knight is just kicking box office ass.

And I didn't stay past the credits. I'm so angry. Is it too hopeful for me to wish that someone will post the scene on YouTube?

Hurray for the YouTube video pirates! Watch in high quality to actually see the picture:

Hee, Mulder in a red trunks. Didn't look like a red speedo though. ;-)

Every time I saw a bald character I was all, "Skinner?!" His sudden random appearance reminded me of when the Lone Gunmen showed up in the first movie. A little something for the fans.
