My gosh, April is going to be geektastic, at least for me. First the official Stargate con in Vancouver in the beginning of April then the local comic book con at the end of the month.

And Jewel's slated to appear! Yay! I was kind of hoping she might appear at the Stargate convention, but now I don't have to go anywhere to see her. :-) I can get my Firefly comic signed, getting me one step closer to my extremely implausible goal of getting the entire cast to autograph it. I so have to buy a weekend pass now.

Whoo hoo! This comic book con just keeps getting better and better.

Cool! *Whoo Hoo's along with you*

I'm so envious too. Jewel Staite came to Sydney last year for Supernova (sci-fi con) and I am kicking myself I didn't go. I'd never been to a con of any kind before and was nervous to go on my own. Having just moved to Syd, didn't know anyone to drag along with me.

I really wanted to get Jewel's autograph for my daughter to have when she is older (she's only 3 now). We named her 'Kaylee Rose.' Guess what two shows her parents are really into? LOL.

This year I will not be so scared. I even have been roped into designing a little flyer/bookmark for the DWCA - Doctor Who Club of Australia that will go in all the goodie bags they hand out at Supernova. (I need to be more careful who I hang out at the pub with :P
I think they'll get me to help with Whovention in 2010 too.)

Yeah, going to con's on your own, it can get kind of lonely. You're surrounded by people who enjoy the same stuff you do but you don't know any of them. I've actually resorted to taking my mom along to a con when a friend had to pull out. Not that it was a bad time or anything; I get my geekdom from my parents. :-)

I'm determined to get Jewel's autograph. I wimped out at last year's con and didn't get anyone's autograph. I just find it so hard to talk to the guests.

I think it's cool to be part of a group at a con. Sure you have to volunteer some of your time, but you get to meet other fans, too. Or maybe the idea of just a Doctor Who convention just excites me and I can't see the down. I doubt we'll ever get anyone Who related here in Canada.
