Okay, so I didn't manage to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse, and Battlestar Galactica all in the same night. Kudos to those who managed though.

First off, some quick thoughts about TSCC. I have to admit I only watch because of Summer. I mean, I've seen all the Terminator movies, but it's not like I'm going to run out and see Terminator: Salvation when it releases. With that said, it's cool the show is expanding on this universe in its own, sort of messed up way. And it doesn't ignore what came before. Well, the show ignores the third movie, but rightly so.

Anyway, it was nice they brought back Kyle, even if he was a figment of Sarah's imagination. It fits though. When Sarah gave birth to John, she said she imagined Kyle, that he was there holding her hand. And if they did bring back Kyle for real, that defeats everything. It's his death that inspired Sarah to go on this journey. He's like Uncle Ben or Bruce Wayne's parents. These are the characters who need to stay dead. In a nice bit of continuity, they show the scar Sarah got in Terminator 2, from when John Doggett the T-1000 stabbed her in the shoulder. It may not be the same actress, but it's the same character.

Oh, and it must have been one hell of a casting job to find an actor to play Kyle. He has to look like Thomas Dekker, resemble Brian Austin Green slightly, and invoke Michael Biehn. At least they got the clothes right.

But enough about TSCC. Dollhouse! Joss' triumphant return to television. So good to see the Mutant Enemy guy running across my screen again.

It's a good start. The universe is there, ripe for wonderful stories to be told. The show just needs time to delve into that universe a little bit deeper. Hopefully FOX gives it that time. I don't see them cancelling the show prematurely, unless they want legions of angry fans standing outside their offices with signs. They learned their lesson with Firefly. Or am I being too optimistic? ;-)

But from one episode, I want to know more about the Dollhouse and the people who work there. How did any of them end up there? Boyd's an ex-cop, but why isn't he a cop anymore? Topher's a geek, but he seems to enjoy his job just a little too much. And the other Dolls. What did Echo do? Are they all volunteers? These are definitely questions to keep the show running for awhile. In the mean time, we'll have Eliza keeping butt and Tahmoh being shirtless, uh, I mean awesome. And Amy was there! I didn't expect her to be in the first ep. Her character has some untold back-story going on, too. Plus, she has a cute hair cut. I've never seen Amy with short hair.

There's also plenty of angst being a Doll. Echo can't remember being with anybody, but the client can remember. Anything of value that came out of an engagement will be lost on Echo after she gets her mind wiped. It's kind of sad. I assume Boyd will feel Echo's angst for her, since he's the one who has to watch her all the time and see her happy and then see her as a blank slate. The blank Dolls kind of remind me of the clones in The Island, that crappy sci fi movie with Ewan McGregor. They live this innocent existence, totally unaware of the world outside. For now.

So there's promise if mystery to follow, with this Doll Alpha. If the Dolls' names come from the NATO phonetic alphabet, does that mean there are only 26 Dolls in the house at a time? Is Echo the first Echo? If we're at Sierra, then they're pretty far down the alphabet. Though, some of these names would suck. Golf? Hotel? Lima? But there is potential for a Doll to be named Quebec.

And finally BSG. Not as exciting this week, probably because there was a lot of talking going on. Nothing wrong with talking, but it's change of pace from the last two episodes.

But I am so confused, trying to follow the lineage of the Cylons. Let's see if I can get this straight. So on Kobol, humans created Cylon type machines, who left Kobol as the 13th tribe, while the others went off to form the colonies. Along the way, the 13th tribe built that temple on the algae planet and they were shown the way to Earth. On Earth, they figured out a way to have babies and worked on resurrection technology. Then it all went to hell, five of them downloaded and made their way to colonies to tell their human creators not to create more Cylons. But too late. So they stop the first Cylon War and start making skin jobs to appease the colony Cylons. Along the way, the five get betrayed, have their memories erased, and then they're slowly released into the human population as punishment, aging along the way. Close? Maybe. Confusing? Yes.

Does this mean there are 13 Cylon models? Because you have the Five, models one through eight, with model seven missing. So the seventh makes 13. Is there one more Cylon to be outed? That would be nice. The reveal of Ellen as the final Five was sort of lame. But it's cool to know the Five modeled the other skin jobs on people they knew. Cavil is based on Ellen's father. And if Cavil/John remembers being created, are there other models out there who remember, too? Like is there a Six or an Eight who know why they look like they do.

And I know this is wrong, but I giggled when I saw that Sam's brain surgeon was the PC guy. I'm sorry, but it's hard to take Sam's fate seriously when the guy operating on his brain is the guy trying to sell me computers.

Man, Fridays are going to be busy until BSG ends. Hopefully we don't lose any shows along the way because of network stupidity.

Oh man, I completely missed the fact that they were using the phonetic alphabet for the names. D'oh. Now I really hope we get to meet Foxtrot. ;)

Like you, I've got a TONNE of questions about this show, mainly, yeah, about how they all ended up there. And why does Amy's character have scars all over her face?

I'm really crossing my fingers here that they'll let this show continue.

There are only 26 names to choose from, so if the show keeps going for long enough, I'm sure we'll meet them all. :-) But a lot of the phonetic alphabet is lame name choices. I like how Eliza has made her name playing characters whose names are nouns: Faith. Tru. Echo.

I was expecting Amy's character to have these huge, hideous scars so these thin things raise an eyebrow.

If it comes down to cancelling an under-performing show, I hope FOX goes with Fringe. J.J. Abrams has Lost and the new Star Trek movie. He doesn't need another show. ;-)

Yay! I finally saw Dollhouse.

Still haven't seen BSG yet but that's coz 'someone' keeps leaving their USB drive at work. *Grumbles at other half*

Also, my oven's now broken, so I am currently unable to exchange baked goods for eps.

So what did you think of Dollhouse?

Oh man, I hope you get everything fixed and sorted before BSG's finale. You have until March 20. Then the internet goes mad.

I liked Dollhouse. I was so worried that it wouldn't get to air (after what happened to Firefly) That I didn't read much about it beforehand.
I knew Tahmoh and Eliza were in it. I knew Dichen Lachman (Sierra) was in it because she was in 'Neighbours'- an Aussie Soap opera. But I didn't know Amy Acker was in it until I saw it. Holy cow! How did I miss that? And yeah, bonus points for shirtless Tahmoh.

I'm not instantly in love with Dollhouse like I was after seeing my first episode of Firefly. But I am very intrigued with the story and really want to know more about the characters just like [livejournal.com profile] hjea said. I think a part of me is worried it'll get axed, so I'm terrified to get too attached to it.

Finally saw the next two episodes of BSG. But today I'm one ep behind again. And one ep behind in Dollhouse too. Luckly our Download month was over today and it clicked back to zero. And as long as nobody downloads Gigs of crap this month (like Mr batti did last month) everything will be good. He likes BSG too so he learned his lesson.

Also we got a call today to say that our oven is being replaced tomorrow. Which is weird because it's a Sunday. I can make cookies and pizza again though, so yeay! Not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I love anything of Joss' by default. The sad thing about TV nowadays is the show has to draw some big numbers right away or it's not worth keeping. Joss does have his loyal fans, but he has been away from TV for about five years as well. People will have forgotten about Buffy and Firefly. I really hope FOX gives it a chance.

Yay for fixed ovens and download limits back to zero! :-)
