locker_monsterI got carded when I went to see Watchmen last night. Apparently I look like I'm 18. Can't say I was overwhelmingly wowed by the movie. I mean, it's a good graphic novel, but I don't love it, so however the movie turned out, it really didn't matter to me. It looked really good though, I'll give Zack Snyder that. I hear there'll be an extended version in the future, with the Black Freighter stuff worked in and maybe whatever else ended up on the cutting room floor, so that will be cool.
One downside of going out on Fridays: I miss all of my Friday night TV.
I still like Dollhouse, but I'm having troubles with the premise of the show. The character stuff is just awesome, but it's the engagements the Actives go on that don't quite work.
I get that clients will hire a Doll for romantic stuff and covert, illegal stuff, but the other things? Bodyguard? Midwife? What kind of couple would spend thousands to have an Active give birth to their child. That one stumps me. Stealing art I get. You don't want anything to go wrong so you hire someone who can't go wrong. Well, until they get remotely wiped, of course. Which was a very cool plot twist. You go into the story thinking, "Great, it's a heist episode" and then it's not about the heist at all. It's about Echo, and her blank slate state. You think she'll be useless and in the end, she's not. She saves the techie guy, not because she was told to but because she wanted to.
I have steered clear of finding out who will be playing Alpha, so please, no spoilers. I know it's a past Whedonverse actor, and probably from Firefly judging by one story headline I saw in passing, but I don't need to be confirmed until I actually see the episode where we meet Alpha properly.
Friday night is also double Tahmoh night, well, for a couple more weeks anyway. Then no more BSG. :-(
I thought it was completely ridiculous BSG was selling off their sets and props and stuff. Yes, it was for charity, but that meant no more filming ever. Having watched the latest episode, not so silly. Galactica is beyond repair and Adama is prepared to abandon ship. Man, it's like watching one of the characters die. In any ship based show, the ship is always one of the characters. In Serenity, when Serenity loses one of her thrusters, it actually hurt to watch it get snapped off. Hearing Galactica groan and buckle is like listening to a person hack and cough because of cancer or something. And it's home. You don't abandon your home. So selling off the set, it means the show won't ever revisit the ship again. It's like a send-off.
Someone needs to make an icon that says, "Adama's crying again. Must be Friday." It's great that Adama isn't so manly he can't have a good cry, but wow, he's been doing it a lot lately. I like him better when he's with Laura and they're all giddy and cute. And why was he reading that book with a magnify glass? What happened to his glasses?
I can't see how they are going to resolve this show. Unless they kill everyone, then that's a sure fire way to end everything.

Date: 2009-03-10 03:31 pm (UTC)She's a Terminator now, although I don't watch the show so I don't know if she's still a good one, or a morally grey one. And was she not vaguely bad in the 4400? But, no, she was on ATS first so she may have been saved from being evil.
I'm half tempted to run off and work out who it could be. Assuming it's one of the main or recurring guys it does leave us with very limited possibilities.
