Gah, filming on season five of Doctor Who started. Now I have to avoid spoilers for the specials and the new season. But filming has resulted in something.

I can’t remember what I thought of Ten’s outfit when it was revealed. I can’t remember what I thought of Nine’s outfit either. Well, at least Eleven’s outfit isn’t horrible, like, say, Six’s.

Look at Eleven, all geeky in his bow tie. It’s kind of cute, actually, and it matches the outfits the Doctor has worn previously. I’ve always thought the Doctor’s outfit should be casual and formal at the same time, that he can get away with being at a fancy dress party or simply walking down the street without turning heads. The bow tie gives Eleven something unique, like Ten’s Chucks or Four’s scarf, but the rest of the outfit isn’t too weird, avoiding things like celery and too many colours. And he’s not some emo kid with his tight jeans and his crazy hair. Thank goodness they combed Matt Smith’s hair. So Eleven looks young but his clothes reflect someone older, and I like that. The producers aren’t ignoring his youth but their also not dressing him like a boring old man.

And the Companion’s name is Amy Pond. Judging from her clothes, she looks like another contemporary Companion. Sigh. Unless that’s how they dress in the not-too-distant future. Funny how she’s wearing Chucks. I hope Eleven comments on that.

This kind of leads me to another thought I’ve had for awhile. It was around Christmas, I think, when I showed my non-sci-fi-interested friend a picture of Ten and she went, “Yeah, you would like a guy who’s geeky.” And it really hit me then: I do like Ten because he is a geek. It’s probably why I like him a little bit more than Nine. Nine’s all cool in his leather jacket, but Ten’s got his glasses and his Chucks (of which I own two pairs). So maybe that’s why I’m not horribly adverse to Eleven’s look.

I wonder if Eleven will have different bow ties?

But what happened to the TARDIS?

It looks like they remodeled the exterior prop. Now it looks like it's made out of plastic or something and the light on top looks like a lantern. And yet, it's also kind of old school Who looking. The St John Ambulance seal is back and the windows are similar in design to the TARDIS first used. Does this mean the console room is getting a radial re-design too? I guess the new production team wanted a look of their own.

That second picture of the tardis doesn't go to anything DW related. I am just too lazy to search. Haha.

Bah, that website isn't very reliable sometimes. It was just a picture of the TARDIS from the very first episode of Classic Who. Just take my word that the new TARDIS look likes an old TARDIS. ;-)

I admit, Matt Smith's look is kinda dorky/cute. But I think they could have made him a bit more trendy instead of going backward to old who.

I really hate the new TARDIS! It's stupid, who would believe that? I love the TARDIS the way it is, I don't see why they have to change everything, even the sonic screwdriver!

Maybe Steven Moffat is trying to recapture his youth and that's why everything looks like it's from the classic series? :-)

I think if Eleven lost the bow tie, he could be slightly trendy. And there's always the possibility they might change up his look as the series progresses. Four had some variations in the clothes he wore and Ten got his blue suit.

But they're changing the sonic screwdriver, too? Man, they really are starting from scratch.
