Well, it's over for another year. This year's comic book expo was great. I think they've worked out all the kinks. The crowds were managed very well and there was helpful signage everywhere. Next year is their 10th anniversary. I can't believe how far they have come from the first one.

CCEE 2014: Sunday )

It was a long weekend, but it was super fun and I'm sad it's over for another year. I have more pictures to sort through so I may have a full weekend recap to come.

Oh, and randomly, Joan Rivers showed up. Yes, it was her and not a cosplayer. Don't ask me why she was there. She just was.
I want to post about the last day of the expo, but I haven't uploaded my photos yet, so here's a quick rundown:

1) Zombies! I ran into a friend and her boyfriend and his kids and they were all done up in zombie make-up. Quite awesome. The original plan was to do a zombie flash mob before George Romero's panel, but he had to cancel last minute due to breaking his arm. Ouch. So, this left all the flash mobbers in a lurch. To make up for it, they just ran around the expo today doing mini versions of Thriller. I'm bummed I missed it, but I'm sure it'll be on YouTube.

2) Number One! Okay, I got to admit that I had a crush on Commander Riker growing up. He'll always be the hunky second in command to me. Actually, Jonathan Frakes was a hoot and he got a White Hat, too, though I'm pretty sure he's was a cheaper version. But he wore the hat more than Shatner did and he had more fun reciting the oath to make him an honourary citizen of the city. Frakes isn't a storyteller like Shatner, so more questions were answered, but he definitely had more fun answering them.

3) The Guild! With pyrotechnics! Felicia tweeted it before the panel started and I love how confused she sounded. My theory is, they budgeted for pyrotechnics for three events: opening ceremonies, Shatner's panel, and Romero's panel. Obviously with no Romero they had some leftover fireworks and stuff. The Guild cast totally deserved them. :-) I'd like you to do something like that, San Diego Comic Con! You could see some of the cast poking their heads between the curtains to film it. So cute. And to my surprise, they're not all PC gamers. I'd say about 4 out of 6 are console gamers. Strange. They do play Left 4 Dead together, which just made my day.

More later, hopefully with photos.
I am so tired. The annual comic book and entertainment expo is on this weekend. I just spent half the day wandering the exhibit hall and trying to say coherent things to the media guests. I think I spoke the most to Felicia Day but mostly because I had to explain the messages I wanted her to sign on my swag. And success! I now have all the autographs of The Guild cast. I think this is the first time I've gotten all the autographs for a show's cast.

Plus I got to meet Michael Hogan!! My sister and I swung by his booth, just hoping to catch a glimpse of him, and when we got there no one was in line. One of the expo's minions then mentioned to us that a photo with Michael Hogan at his booth was only $10. $10? Awesome! Best $10 I ever spent. We did one nice photo, with one of us on either side of him, and it turned out fine. But then, Michael was all, "Do you want to take another one?" and how could we refuse. :-D I think we ended up taking about four pictures and all because Michael kept saying, "Hey, let's take another one." I think it was because no one else was there. The last one was the best as we were all shouting "Frak!"

I foresee tomorrow and Sunday being very busy as the expo will be in full swing and William Shatner will be there. I'm just going to sit down in the main panel room and not move from my seat for, like, six hours.
