A/N: One last entry for [livejournal.com profile] dw_50ficathon's 50th anniversary ficathon. Year claimed: 1969. Obviously Two's recorder was replaced with the sonic screwdriver, but it's fun to think there were other reasons why it disappeared.

( Zoe hadn't forgotten about her mystery object from the library. It appeared that Jamie was off to hide it. She couldn't think of any other reason for him to be in such a hurry. )

A/N: Inspired by an extensive Two era marathon. The Doctor's good-bye with Jamie and Zoe at the end of "The War Games" was really touching and heartbreaking and so worth re-visiting. Unbeta'd so mind the mistakes.

( Can he tell her that her lost memory is his fault? His own people wiped her mind to punish him for his actions. But the Time Lords are gone. What does it matter if one young woman gets to remember him again? )
