I'm confused. Is Veronica Mars renewed? Because the CW is promoting the last two episodes of the season at the "season finale". I assume that means it's coming back because if it wasn't, it would say "series finale" instead. I've heard that there are plans to skip ahead two years so Veronica is in FBI school. Was the idea enough to save the show?
Because really, if the CW doesn't renew Veronica Mars, then they're more stupid than I thought. Not that I watched Gilmore Girls, but with that gone there aren't really any good shows left. I'm not counting the comedies since they seem to do fine. Yeah, I know people love Supernatural, but that's a genre type show, like Smallville. Both may have elements of drama but both shows aren't set in the real world. The story lines on Veronica Mars aren't that far fetched. I mean, you'll never see Veronica fighting demons. :-D
I think the CW needs to promote Veronica Mars differently. Every time I see a promo, I cringe. They make the show seem too serious, or worse, like some cheesy teen girl soap opera. Yes, Veronica Mars is a drama, but it also has humour and mystery mixed in. It makes me glad I never saw promos for Buffy when it was on the WB or UPN. Were they horribly annoying, too? I vaguely remember that the Angel promos put things out of context. "OMG! Angel and Fred are getting together. Oh, wait. No they're not. We just made it seem like they would."
I would be sad if Veronica Mars went away. It's part of the select group of T.V. shows that I watch that I thoroughly enjoy. Shows like Lost, CSI, and Smallville are like junk food for the brain. I watch them so I don't have to think too hard. ;-D

Date: 2007-05-16 11:25 am (UTC)Rob Thomas pitched a 'jump forward in time' revamp with Veronica at the FBI academy. This pitch pleased the execs (particularly the network head), who were interested in hearing more.
However, as it stands now, the rumor is that Veronica Mars isn't on CW's fall schedule, but isn't officially dead yet, either - they suspect that they may be holding off a final decision until after they release their 'upfronts', or it could go to a midseason debut, or it could potentially be on the schedule under a different name - there were rumors they'd change the show's title because of the new concept.

Date: 2007-05-17 12:39 am (UTC)I've heard that some of the cast members have already found new jobs. The actors who play Parker and Piz, who admittedly aren't that important, have found new shows. Personally, they should have Veronica (obviously), her dad, because I enjoy the father-daughter relationship Veronica and Keith have, and a friend; it's a toss-up between Wallace or Mac. I'd prefer Mac though only because I like her character.
I do hope the CW announces something soon.
