locker_monster- I think I caught Alan Tudyk's cold. :-P My throat is starting to feel sore, which is usually not a symptom of my seasonal allergies. I'm pretty sure I know how the germs got transferred, too. I had lunch after getting Alan's autograph and didn't wash my hands before eating. I basically swallowed the germs. Dang it; I knew I should have brought hand sanitizer. On the other hand, these are celebrity germs.
- Got my tickets to see Captain America: Civil War on Friday. I doubt Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a big tie-in to the movie, but I want to see it regardless just in case there is a reference. Though, the latest episode did have a passing reference. I wonder if this means the movie is already happening?
I haven't been watching any of the Civil War trailers, but I did fast forward through one while watching one of my shows and I noticed something:
There's a shot of Steve in a very nice suit and he's in a church talking to Natasha. Did someone die? Is someone going to die? I have a very bad feeling that Peggy dies in this movie, that that's how the movie opens. It makes the most sense to me. Steve loses Peggy and that gives him extra motivation to protect Bucky since Bucky is the only person still around from Steve's past. I know present day Peggy is well into her 90s, but I don't want to think about how the character will now have a definitive end. With season three of Agent Carter looking very slim, this kind of closes the book on Peggy's life. I mean, she could still have the odd cameo here and there if the movies or AoS does a flashback, but it's not the same.
- The Flash had an odd line in the latest episode.
So Barry goes to see his father (who's living in Jack's cabin from Stargate SG-1) and he explains the whole situation with Zoom/Jay. When Barry mentions that Zoom was going by the name Jay Garrick, Henry picks up on the Garrick. This is where the odd line comes in. Henry explains that Garrick is the maiden name of his mother. Its placement in the conversation is very awkward, so it must mean something. Is the Man in the Iron Mask Earth-2 Henry? The guy in the cage doesn't have John Wesley Shipp's build, but you could argue that the guy has been locked up for a while so he's wasted away a bit. I would love it if John Wesley Shipp ended up being the real Jay Garrick. It would be an awesome reference to the fact that he played the Flash in the 1990 TV show and it'd be a neat twist.
Or it's Earth-2 Barry's uncle or something. I don't know. They wouldn't bring up the Garrick connection to the Allens unless it was important.
Oh, and the contraption to get Barry's speed back is vaguely reminiscent of the set-up in the "Flashpoint" storyline from the comics. It has the chemicals and the lightning rod and the restraints to keep Barry in place. In the comics, Barry got horribly burned on his first attempt, but here on the show, it seems like Barry has burnt up completely. I say he got absorbed into the Speed Force and he comes out of it with new powers and maybe a new fancy suit. Oh, and Wally and Jesse also get hit with the dark matter wave. Please tell me that they end up with speed powers, too. With Wally, it seems pretty likely, since that's how he got his powers, i.e. through a recreation of the same accident that granted Barry his powers. Maybe we'll have Kid Flash for season three.
Ooh, Kevin Smith is directing next week's episode. That should be good. The guy is a big DC fan.
- I got around to watching the Legends of Tomorrow from last week and one of Ray's lines made me giggle. At one point he says "... reverse the polarity of the dwarf star matrix." Too bad Rip wasn't around to hear the line. I would have loved a quippy comment from him about how the line makes no sense.
- And yeah, it's May the 4th. Do Star Wars related things, I guess.
