I avoided going online for a few days to avoid any spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (because not everyone on social media is thoughtful about such things), but was it worth it?

Spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi )

Overall, The Last Jedi is a fine movie, but not the best Star Wars movie ever. But it was still fun to watch and that's definitely worth all of the anticipation.
- I think I caught Alan Tudyk's cold. :-P My throat is starting to feel sore, which is usually not a symptom of my seasonal allergies. I'm pretty sure I know how the germs got transferred, too. I had lunch after getting Alan's autograph and didn't wash my hands before eating. I basically swallowed the germs. Dang it; I knew I should have brought hand sanitizer. On the other hand, these are celebrity germs.

- Got my tickets to see Captain America: Civil War on Friday. I doubt Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a big tie-in to the movie, but I want to see it regardless just in case there is a reference. Though, the latest episode did have a passing reference. I wonder if this means the movie is already happening?

I haven't been watching any of the Civil War trailers, but I did fast forward through one while watching one of my shows and I noticed something:

Wild speculation regarding a shot from a Civil War trailer )

- The Flash had an odd line in the latest episode.

Ooh, Kevin Smith is directing next week's episode. That should be good. The guy is a big DC fan.

- I got around to watching the Legends of Tomorrow from last week and one of Ray's lines made me giggle. At one point he says "... reverse the polarity of the dwarf star matrix." Too bad Rip wasn't around to hear the line. I would have loved a quippy comment from him about how the line makes no sense.

- And yeah, it's May the 4th. Do Star Wars related things, I guess.
- Three weeks out from the comic book expo and now is the time that I decide to start working on my cosplays? Okay, so it's not like I'm starting costumes from scratch with only 21 days to go, but you think I would have done this sooner. Good thing it's only minor additions to cosplays that are pretty much done anyway, but the pieces still need to ship from their various locations. I do have about a week wiggle room if things do arrive later than the estimate, but it'll be close.

Boring details behind the cut )

I suppose that's the nice thing about cosplays. They're never just "done". You can always change them and update them as your skill level and your budget improve.

- Well, after all of that teasing, Arrow finally answered the mystery that's been hanging over the entire season.

Spoilers for Arrow 4x18, "Eleven-Fifty-Nine" )

I assume the mystery is solved, unless this entire thing is a red herring, but that seems kind of cruel.

- The trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story dropped today. I had completely forgot that the movie was coming out in December. Maybe I'm just in denial that there's going to be new Star Wars content like every year. *in crotchety old person voice* In my day, all we had to look forward to were the special editions and the prequels.

Kidding aside, it does look interesting and there's another new female lead we can admire. :-)
- Saw The Force Awakens again last night. I can see why people keep going to see it. You pick up new things each time. The friend I went with also had an interesting theory about a certain character. I don't know if he's the only one who has thought of this, but even if other fans have had this idea, it's still a neat one:

- Oh, and after the movie we did dinner and we ended up sitting in the lounge. The waitress actually carded me. Seriously? I still look like I'm under 25? Lady, I haven't been 25 in a while. I guess I should take this as a compliment, but it's still weird.

- Now that my Christmas knitting is done, I find myself with more time on my hands. I know that time should be used to go job hunting, but I'm just not feeling it.

- Instead, I've gotten back into my video games. I started playing Assassin's Creed: Unity. It's for the PS4, so it's a next gen game, and it looks gorgeous. The game play and the cut scenes have the same level of detail. The game was notoriously glitchy when it first came out, so hopefully they've worked out the bugs by now. The game is set during the French Revolution so I like to think I'm learning some history while I play. ;-) Actually, the French Revolution is something they teach in Canadian high schools, since Canada doesn't have a violent revolution of its own to learn about, so I should know some of this stuff already. At one point the main character is thrown into prison and I instantly knew it was the Bastille. And what do you know. The character is still there when Bastille Day happens. My cruise in May visits Paris, so if I end up touring the city, I can look for places from the game. I mean, I did the same thing in Venice and Rome last year. :-)
I would have liked to have seen it opening weekend, but the timing wasn't good for me. Also, I was feeling Star Wars fatigue from all of the merchandising and advertising. As such, I ended up with a theatre full of kids off for the Christmas break and I think some of them had already seen the movie. Case in point, there was a mom with two boys sitting behind me and the younger son kept talking about the movie and the mom had to tell him to stop talking a bunch of times. Clearly, the mom didn't want to be spoiled. Now that's a good parent. ;-)

Anyway, the movie. I really enjoyed it. It was, foremost, fun, and it does a good job of setting up another trilogy.

Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens )

Overall, the movie was very much in the spirit of A New Hope and you're left with a great desire to see what's next. Please don't screw it up. We've been burned once before.
