Working 9 to 5... (well, not really)

I'm still here! I didn't slink back off to Hawaii when you weren't looking. Had to settle back into work. I'm on my lonesome now; the other girl who was training me had to go back to university. I have to be on top of stuff and actually know what's going on. I hadn't planned for that when I took this job. Can't I just slide through without any big responsibilities? Also waiting to hear if the company is going to hire me on for real. My two months of probation is up. Either I have a real job or it's back to the employment agency. I'm fairly certain this time they will hire me. There's no one else who will do this job. I've been told being the data monkey for this project has passed through many hands.

More on Hawaii once I find time to upload the pictures, though spending ten straight days with your mother as your only company can get old pretty fast. But considering that we're planning to attend the official Stargate convention in Vancouver next year, I guess we escaped this vacation with our sanity intact.

And speaking of the Stargate con, I think it will be my first proper sci fi convention. The ones here are modest and draw somewhat interesting guests that I sort of care about most of the time. This one is four days and major actors are actually going to be there. And with the ticket package that I'm buying, I'll get to meet the actors and get their autographs. Plus a set tour! I'm hoping by that time production for Stargate Universe will be in full swing and I'll get to see the new sets. But I can just hear myself now, trying to explain why I need the time off. "Yeah, I'm attending a convention. A sci fi convention."

So this is life now. A life of work. Of getting up at the same time every day and doing the same job for five days a week, four weeks a month. It still feels like this is a temp job and I'm just waiting for school to start up again. It's such a weird transition period.

I'm excited. We bought the tickets today so there's no backing down. I've been in school every time the con's been on, so this should be exciting. Plus they're still announcing guests. Amanda Tapping and Joe Flanigan are attending, and anyone else could join them. *is secretly hoping Richard Dean Anderson will show up*

And it's either work or unemployment and while sitting around doing nothing is fun, it doesn't pay the bills.

The con's on from April 2-5, but the mom and I are taking a shooting location tour on April 1. There's so much going on. You can visit filming locations, tour the sets, tour their production offices. I have to believe this is one of the best cons for a fandom.

I'm not sure if RDA has attended this con before. I think my mom would be in heaven if he did show up this year. :-)
