Title: Conflagration (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 422
Characters: Twelve, Clara
Timeline: Post-"Last Christmas".
Summary: Where there's smoke, there's fire. And it's probably Clara's fault.
Disclaimer: Everything belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Smoke" challenge.

The Doctor sprinted down the corridor, hoping to get there before everything went up in smoke. Not for the first time he wondered why this always happened. )
Title: Last Request (1/1)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,665
Characters: Twelve, Clara
Timeline: Post-"Knock Knock", pre-"Oxygen"; spoilers for "Face the Raven" and "Hell Bent".
Summary: He broke time to save her. Now they have a chance to put things right.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Heaven's Gate" challenge. This fic ended up being much longer than I anticipated. I apologize now if it rambles on. I'm sure Clara will show up in some capacity in Twelve's last story, so I'm getting this plot bunny down before it gets Moffat'd.

Her perfected air of detachment slipped for just a moment. In that brief second, he saw genuine emotion within her ancient eyes. Grief. "A last request." )
Title: Thrust Vector (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 572
Characters: Clara, Twelve
Timeline: Pre-"The Girl Who Died"; no spoilers.
Summary: Clara tries to get her bearings in zero gravity.
Disclaimer: It's all owned by the BBC. I just play in their world.
A/N: Entry for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Signs" challenge.

Suddenly, what should have been the floor was now a wall. Clara's head started to spin and she felt the remains of her lunch gurgle within her stomach. )
Title: It's the Thought That Counts (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 547
Characters: Clara, Sarah Jane, Twelve
Timeline: Set post-"Deep Breath" and pre-"Under the Lake"; no spoilers
Summary: It's not the first time a friend of the Doctor's has been stranded in Scotland.
Disclaimer: It all belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Entry for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Twice" challenge. Ever since we saw the empathy cue cards in "Under the Lake", I've been trying to come up with a plausible explanation for the Aberdeen one. This is my attempt.

The Doctor was easily distracted, but he had never left her behind before. Panic seemed like a viable reaction, but Clara went with a sigh instead. She hoped that he was just confused from the regeneration and that this wasn't the new status quo. )
Title: Noble Gesture (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 1,179
Characters: Twelve, Donna
Timeline: Set post-"The Girl Who Died"; no spoilers
Summary: The Doctor finds the courage to check up on an old friend.
Disclaimer: The BBC owns all.
A/N: Entry for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Hindsight" challenge.

The last time he saw her, it had been at a wedding, her wedding in fact. It had been a few years since then, assuming he had landed the TARDIS in the correct year, but she hadn't changed at all. )
Title: Harmony (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 497
Characters: Clara, Twelve
Timeline: Set post-"The Witch's Familiar" but no spoilers
Summary: Clara muses on the Doctor's newfound guitar playing skills.
Disclaimer: It all belongs to the BBC
A/N: Entry for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Brilliance" challenge. I wanted to write an entry using different characters, since my last one had Twelve and Clara, but the muse wants what the muse wants. I also wanted to title this "An Axe to Grind", if only for the word play. :-)

It was still weird for Clara, seeing him with the guitar slung over his shoulder and his dark shades over his eyes. With his slightly shaggy hair and his distressed t-shirt, he should have looked like an aging rock star, but it was the opposite somehow. )
Title: One Year Older (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 443
Characters: Twelve, Clara
Timeline: Set post-"The Woman Who Lived" but no spoilers
Summary: The Doctor tries to celebrate Clara's birthday.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Entry for [livejournal.com profile] who_contest's "Candle" challenge. Yay, my first one! Incidentally, this came about because I couldn't figure out what year it was during season eight. Any evidence I found either pointed to 2014 or 2016.

It was a silly tradition, sticking candles on top of sugary confections to mark the date of one's birth. )
Title: Household Gods (5/5)
Rating: PG
Characters: Twelve, Clara
Timeline: pre-"The Caretaker"; no spoilers.
Summary: An unexpected discovery at the British Museum leads the Doctor and Clara to Ancient Rome, but things quickly get out of hand when the Doctor is mistaken for another man...
Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rumpelsnorcack for the awesome beta.

Chapter One. Chapter Two. Chapter Three. Chapter Four.

There was so much tension running through the Doctor's body that Clara feared he might burst from all of the pent up rage. She didn't know what to say that wouldn't make it worse. )
Title: Household Gods (4/5)

Chapter One. Chapter Two. Chapter Three.

"You are a mighty god, Doctor. Worthy of the praise from the lowly mortals." )

"Do you get to choose your faces?" )

Chapter One.

It was entirely possible that he was the man on the marble carving and it was some misadventure here that started all of this. That was the irony of time travel. Sometimes he saw the consequences before the necessary actions took place. )
Title: Household Gods (1/5)
Rating: PG

Timeline: pre-"The Caretaker"; no spoilers.
Summary: An unexpected discovery at the British Museum leads the Doctor and Clara to Ancient Rome, but things quickly get out of hand when the Doctor is mistaken for another man...
Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC.
A/N: I wrote this fic back in December, but I have a feeling that it will be Moffat'd in season nine, so I thought I would get it posted before that happens. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rumpelsnorcack for the awesome beta.

The Doctor didn't reply. He just stared at the slab of marble propped up on the platform. At first, she thought he was just engrossed with examining the carvings, but then she noticed it wasn't a rapt expression on his face. It was one of surprise. )
Title: Gentleman Caller (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 3,824
Characters: Gita Chandra, Haresh Chandra, Sarah Jane, Twelve, Sky, Clara
Timeline: Post-"Mummy on the Orient Express" for Doctor Who and post-"The Man Who Never Was" for The Sarah Jane Adventures. No spoilers.
Summary: Who's the grey-haired Scottish man the Chandras keep seeing at Sarah Jane's house? Does she have a new boyfriend?
Disclaimer: Everything belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50's 51st anniversary fanwork-a-thon. A huge thank you goes to the awesome [livejournal.com profile] dbskyler for the wonderful beta. This fic would be ten times worse without your help.

While he knew Gita was asking out of concern for their friend -- they both still remembered Sarah Jane's short-lived engagement from a few years ago -- this was a bit more snooping than Haresh was comfortable with. "Leave it be, Gita. If Sarah Jane has a boyfriend, she'll introduce him when she wants to." )
Title: Mixed Signals (1/1)
Rating: G
Word Count: 409
Characters: Twelve, Clara
Timeline: Post-"Deep Breath"; no spoilers
Summary: Not everyone is fond of the Doctor's new eyebrows.
Disclaimer: It all belongs to the BBC.
A/N: Silly little fic inspired by Twelve's comments about his eyebrows and how Three showed equal interest in his new features.

"This isn't funny," mumbled the Doctor. His words, muffled by the fact that he had his hand over his nose and mouth, only served to fuel Clara's mirth. )
So, Twelve has a costume now:

I wonder if Twelve will get a newly designed sonic screwdriver, too...
Well, they announced the new Doctor. I can't find an official announcement from the BBC, so here's a random blog about it:

http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2013/aug/04/doctor-who-announcement-live-blog

So, Peter Capaldi, huh? They went older; I like that. Not that I didn't like Matt Smith but we haven't had an older actor in awhile so it's a nice change of pace. As for how Twelve will act? Well, we'll have to wait for Christmas or, more likely, next year. At least the wait is over. Did they really need a live show? Probably not. So does this mean when they announce Thirteen how ever many years from now, the actor will jump out of a plane and parachute into the studio? Because the BBC keeps trying to top the excitement of the previous announcement.

I didn't have my heart set on anyone, so I'm not disappointed. I'm not that familiar with Capaldi's filmography, but going off his appearances in "The Fires of Pompeii", "Children of Earth", and Neverwhere, I know he can do serious, funny, and creepy. And we're kind of getting back to the basic format of the show. Older guy and a younger female Companion running around time and space. It'll be neat to see Clara hanging out with a Doctor who's not her age. Will it be hard for her to relate to him in the beginning? Will there be awkward questions about their friendship?

Hey, this is kind of like the transition from Peter Davison to Colin Baker. Going from the youngest actor ever to an actor who's been on the show before. Heck, Davison even announced he was leaving the show during a major anniversary year. Perhaps Matt Smith took a page from his book...

Anyway, I'll be more excited to see what kind of clothes they pick for Twelve. We've gone from moody black leather, to geeky pinstripe, to tweed and bowtie. As long as they don't dress him up like Six, I'm good with anything. ;-)
