I don't know if someone at the expo made a sacrifice to the weather gods, but it didn't snow! By some miracle, the weather held. It was damn cold but no one had to walk in the rain and/or snow.

Tomorrow I have to grab Catherine's autograph and get a photo-op with her. I also knitted a Shazam doll for Zachary Levi, so I need to give that to him. Here's hoping he accepts gifts from fans.
I just wanted to post some pictures of the Christmas gifts I knitted this year. When I picked up knitting at the start of this year, I never thought to myself that I would become proficient enough to make really cool things for other people, so I rather happy that I was able to make these things.

So yeah, I've been knitting up a storm, off and on, since the end of August. I'm currently working on another hat for my niece, but for the most part, I'm going to take a break from knitting. I need to rest my wrists before I start the two Fourth Doctor scarves that were commissioned by my friends.
Apparently this is a thing now, doing trailers for other movies and whatnot in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy's trailer. I like it. :-D

It just makes me more excited to see Guardians of the Galaxy. And I hear Nathan Fillion has a cameo!
So around this time last year I was heavily into playing Mass Effect 3. Despite all the hubbub around the ending, I really enjoyed the game and I was a little sad that Shepard's story was over.

Well, leave it to BioWare to release one last DLC on the game's anniversary. One last good-bye to the video gaming world's best female character (or male character if that's your choice). It took me two days to download the thing, but it was worth it.

Spoilers for Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC )

Man, I'm going to miss Mass Effect. I mean, I'm sure I'll play the entire series over again from time to time, but it's never going to beat my first play-through.
Only at Comic Con...

Eleven with an OmniTool from Mass Effect 3. Now that's a crossover I can get behind. The universe wouldn't stand a chance with the Doctor teamed up with Commander Shepard. :-D

A better group picture can be found here. Steven Moffat, Matt Smith, and Arthur Darvill seem to be wearing matching t-shirts.
12 days. Beats my time for the last Mass Effect game. I blame marathon sessions on the weekends.

Oh man, I've been playing this series since the beginning so it's hard to put into words what I'm thinking right now. I suppose it's like any trilogy. The character went on a journey, you followed them through all of the hardships, and now the journey is over. I have to say that the last game was one heck of a ride.

Spoilers for Mass Effect 3. Don't click if you haven't finished the game. )

In total, I say I put in around 30 hours of gameplay, not counting any multiplayer. I'm so ready to play it again with my other Shepard if only to see how different choices affect the end.

But first, I need to take a walk. I'm so close to achieving 1,000,000 steps.
Oh yeah, got my hands on a copy of Mass Effect 3! Not that I'm a chatterbox or anything, but I'm going to be really quiet for next few weeks. Oh man, good-bye productivity.

I should go.
Whoo, one week until Mass Effect 3 is released! I can't wait. I foresee a lot of weekends where I won't be moving away from my TV.

I really like the live action trailer they did. Made by the people at The Mill, the FX house that works on Doctor Who. If they ever make a live action Mass Effect TV show, The Mill should be the ones to do the special effects.

Work hasn't been that great lately, so it'll be great to take out my frustrations on invading aliens bent on destroying Earth.
Yay, less than a month until Mass Effect 3 is released! Have a Fem!Shep trailer:

This is part of the reason why I love Mass Effect so much. They do give the option to play a female version of the main character and it doesn't change the story at all. Jane Shepard is just as kick ass as John Shepard. Actually, more so, in my opinion. :-D And I just love that BioWare is marketing Fem!Shep now. There are girl gamers out there, too.
[Error: unknown template qotd]Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series. Preferably the female version. We could kick geth butt by day and chill out with a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy at night. ;-)
Whoo!

I didn't realize it was only two months away. I am thinking about taking some time off of work to play it the week is comes out. I have all of these vacation days that I won't be using until at least October. And I'm always the one at work; I never take a sick day. I should use a sick day to play Mass Effect 3. It'd be like a mental health day. :-)
Well, I know what I'll be doing March 6th next year...

I totally forgot that E3 is happening this week. I've never applied my "no spoilers" policy to a video game before, but I think will with Mass Effect 3. I don't want to know anything before it comes out. Just give me awesome footage of Shepard and I'll be happy. Actually, give me awesome footage of a fem!Shepard and I'll be happier.

I always laugh at my sister when she takes a day off to play a video game the day it comes out, but I might have to join her this time. Call it a mental health day. :-)

Mass Effect 2. No surprise there. :-D

Another good one was Red Dead Redemption. Grand Theft Auto, but with horses. To be fair, that's not an accurate description. The game was very GTA like, but the story was just awesome. It is a game about redemption, just with lots of killing. And the ending? Whoa.

I can't say anything else really caught my attention. But next year? Mass Effect 3 and Portal 2, baby!
Well, I know what I'll be doing during the holiday season next year:

Mass Effect 3! Whoo! I love this game so much. It'll be sad to see it end though, but hopefully BioWare comes up with another trilogy involving Commander Shepard. If he/she doesn't die, of course.

And if it doesn't get delayed...

I know this trailer tells you absolutely nothing about Portal 2, but it's so cute! I want a little turret robot action figure.
Mass Effect 2 is officially finished. Three weeks. Not my all time best. That would be Jade Empire, which I completed, twice, in a week or so. But I would consider that extenuating circumstances since I was on my Reading Week at the time and had plenty of time to burn. So, all in all, for a massive game like ME2, that’s pretty good. I’m sure I could have done it sooner if I had put in more late nights, but I did plenty of those and I can tell you it’s not fun going to work when you’re groggy.

The short of it: Awesome game. I’d totally play this over again, which I plan to do, once I finish up some things. I can’t wait for Mass Effect 3.

The long of it:

Spoilers for Mass Effect 2 )

Whoo, I can get back to doing other things now that I'm not spending every waking hour trying to finish this game.
It's been awhile since I bought a video game that I was really excited about. Actually, now that I think about it, my game collection is made up of games I sort of just bought on a whim because it sounded good or because it had a good multi-player component. So not the case for Mass Effect 2. I've been waiting for this game since I finished the first one. Hands down, Mass Effect was the best video game ever and the sequel is proving to be worthy of that title, too. If I suddenly stop posting all together, it's because I can't stop playing ME2. :-D

The awesomeness of Mass Effect 2 )

I think the sign of any good game is you find yourself thinking about wanting to play it when you should be doing other things. I could not stop thinking about playing when I got home while at work today. I'll probably end up playing all weekend and I doubt I'll even finish a quarter of the game. Who needs a social life, right? ;-)
